Abstract: A shredding and baling apparatus provided includes a shredding assembly operatively connected to a baling assembly via a conveyor. A rotatable drum with cutting teeth spirally arranged along the drum is preferably centered within a lower portion of an intake hopper for cutting through material as it is fed into the hopper. Fixed cutting teeth are preferably arranged in a row or rows along each of the longitudinal sidewalls of the hopper, adjacent the cutting drum. A touch screen display and computer may be used in combination with sensors to monitor and control the shredding and baling operation, and a hydraulic system is used to drive the components. The shredding and baling assembly is preferably designed in an industrial size to handle high volumes of material and may be driven or transported from one location to another.

  • Publication number: 20170106375
Abstract: A splitter is provided for mounting on the leading face of a cutting assembly to be mounted on a brush cutter. In one embodiment, the splitter is preferably mounted below the cutting portion of the tooth such that as wood is cut, the cut wood is directed onto the splitter for further cutting. The tooth is mounted to cut tangentially with respect to the rotation of the cutter, while the splitter cuts radially and outwardly with respect to the rotation of the cutter. In this manner, a cutting mechanism is provided that is capable of cutting tangentially and radially simultaneously. The flow of cut wood is directed out of from the cutting assembly, thus facilitating the removal of the cutting debris away from the tooth holder and the cutting tooth, thereby cleaning the tooth of any debris and preventing wood and other debris from getting lodged within the cutting assembly.

  • Publication number: 20150327442
Abstract: A baling apparatus includes a housing having a fixed portion and a hinged door to release a bale, a series of rollers and belts for compressing and rotating baling material into a bale, a wrap feed mechanism for feeding a wrap around a bale, and means for compressing the bale during the baling operation. The instant baling apparatus may be used for materials that have traditionally been difficult to bale successfully, including small particulate such as mulch, and other materials such as common household trash. The baling apparatus may be utilized as a separate unit, or may be combined with a brush cutter/mulcher, or incorporated into trash removal equipment. A touch screen display and computer may be used in combination with sensors to monitor and control the baling operation, and a hydraulic system is used to drive the components.

Abstract: A brush chipper assembly has a housing and a feeder subassembly connected to the housing. The feeder subassembly includes opposed, first and second feeder rollers. When the feeder subassembly is actuated, the first feeder roller is operable to rotate in a first direction and the second feeder roller is operable to rotate in a second direction (opposite to the first direction) so as to draw the brush into the housing. Also provided is, a chipping subassembly substantially contained within the housing behind the feeder subassembly. The chipping subassembly including first and second, opposed chipping heads, each of which carrying cutting teeth for chipping the brush. When the chipping subassembly is actuated, the first chipping head is operable to rotate in a third direction (opposite to the first direction) and the second chipping head is operable to rotate in a fourth direction (opposite to the second direction).

  • Patent number: 8905343
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to brush cutters and baling machines and methods of operation therefor, and more specifically, to an apparatus and a method for brush cutting and baling wood chips formed during land clearing activities. The apparatus includes a vehicle having front and rear ends. A brush cutter is carried at the front end of the vehicle. The brush cutter has a housing and a brush cutting head mounted for rotation within the housing. The brush cutting head has a support body and a plurality of cutting teeth mounted thereon. The cutting teeth are capable of reducing brush to wood chips and cutting debris when the brush cutting head is actuated. The brush cutting head is operable to take up at least some of the wood chips and cutting debris into the brush cutter housing while the cutting teeth are reducing brush to wood chips and cutting debris. The apparatus is further provided with a bale forming apparatus coupled for towage to the rear end of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 8893997
Abstract: The present invention provides a cutting tooth for use on a brush cutter head. The cutting tooth includes a cutting portion having a first face and a second face. The first face and the second face cooperate to define a tapering profile terminating in a cutting edge. The first face of the cutting portion carries a plurality of ridges formed thereon to direct cutting debris away from the cutting edge and facilitate passage of the debris along the trailing face when the cutting tooth is in use.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a cutting tooth for attachment to a mounting block. The cutting tooth includes a longitudinal body provided with leading and trailing faces, and opposed, first and second cutting portions. The leading face has a projection disposed thereon to reinforce the longitudinal body. The trailing face has defined therein at least one threaded, blind bore. The at least one blind bore extends substantially into the projection but stops short of a leading projection face. It is configured to receive therein a threaded bolt for securing the cutting tooth to the mounting block. The first cutting portion terminates in a first cutting edge having an angle of attack of between 20 and 75 degrees. The second cutting portion terminates in a second cutting edge having an angle of attack between 20 and 75 degrees.
