Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning a tubular printing blanket, comprises a first end cap mounted to a first end portion of the tubular printing blanket; a second end cap mounted to a second end portion of the tubular printing blanket, a compressed air inlet passing through the first end cap; a compressed air supply coupled to the compress air inlet for supplying compressed air to the inside of the tubular printing blanket for stiffening the tubular printing blanket during a cleaning operation; and a cleaning element which interacts with the outside surface of the tubular printing blanket, for cleaning the tubular printing blanket.

A contact pin of a conductor path of the conductor layer conductable to the outside is connected to the printed circuit board, the contact pin being arranged without electrical connection to the shielding layer.

Abstract: A support and tensioning device for an elongated corona generating electrode includes a corona charger shield member that includes a first set of wall members for serving as a shield for a corona generating electrode. The shield member includes a second set of wall members shaped to define a recess formed at one end of the shield member for receiving therein a plunger member and a spring. The recess includes an inner positioned land for engaging a head end of the spring. The second set of wall members define the recess and include walls located to define a key slot opening which extends in a longitudinal direction of the shield member. A spring resides in the recess and engages the land to restrict movement of the spring within the recess. A hollow plunger member has a generally cylindrical sidewall for supporting the plunger for rotational movement in the recess and a land on or near a head end portion of the plunger member engages a tail end of the spring.

Abstract: In a method for multi-beam exposure of a printing form, preferably with laser beams, a computer transmits printing form data to a distributor via a data line as a sequence of recording lines and the distributor cyclically distributes the recording lines onto the input stages of an optics head where N parallel laser beams are generated and modulated with the printing form data of the recording lines. The laser beams are subdivided into active and inactive laser beams, recording lines of the printing form are transmitted via the data line for the active laser beams, and empty lines are inserted into the transmitted sequence of the recording lines for the inactive laser beams. The empty lines contain data values with which the inactive laser beams are driven dark.
Abstract: A dampening unit of a planographic printing machine has a pan roller, a transfer roller, and a dampening unit roller. The transfer roller is held in bearing contact against the dampening unit roller with a regulating force such as, in particular, a spring force FF. The transfer roller, together with the pan roller, is pivotable about a pivot axis that is offset relative to the roller axis of the pan roller, and/or the pivot axis lies essentially on a tangential line running through a circumferential contact point which is formed by the transfer roller together with the dampening unit roller.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus are provided for absorbing lateral sideframe vibration in printing units. A member is connected between two sideframes of a printing unit. According to one embodiment, the member is a rod and a mass slides on the rod. The mass is biased between two springs and a unit frame tie surrounds the rod. According to another embodiment, collars are disposed on the rod for adjusting the preload of the springs and additional masses may be placed on the mass sliding on the rod. A further embodiment includes a unit frame tie acting as the member and a rod connected to the unit frame tie. A mass is movable on the rod.

Abstract: A belt drive for a machine for processing flat printing materials includes an endless belt revolving during operation, a roller about which the belt is partially looped, a frame with respect to which the roller is adjustable between a working position, wherein the roller keeps the belt tensioned, and a position moved away from the working position, wherein the belt is untensioned, and a spring device for biasing the roller into the working position thereof. Abstract: An apparatus and method designed to eliminate dog-earring of the comers of the open edges of a folded signature or book without the need for the use of electrostatic adherence. A guide mechanism is provided between a tape drive, a divert cylinder and/or a deceleration drum. The guide mechanism is preferably located at the position of the open edges of the signature which is being transferred. The guide mechanism is preferably of a width which accommodates variations in the folded width of the folded signature or books. The guide mechanism includes a series of narrow slots, or micro-slots, across its width. The gripping devices which are located in the area of the guide mechanism include a series of narrow fingers, or micro-fingers, across their width. The micro-fingers of the gripping mechanisms are designed to pass through the micro-slots of the guide mechanism.

Abstract: A printing press comprises a cylinder having an outer surface and a plurality of air holes for providing air to the outer surface. A sound-damping material is located on a section of the outer surface and an axially-removable printing sleeve fits over the outer surface. Also disclosed is a method for reducing noise from a printing press comprising the steps of providing air through air holes in a cylinder having a free end to aid in placement or removal of an axially-removable printing sleeve, and providing a sound-damping surface to an outer surface of the cylinder at the free end.
