  • Publication number: 20240292987
Abstract: An adapter is connected to a hose cuff on a vacuum hose for connection with two different inlet valves of a central vacuum system. The hose cuff may connect with a primary inlet valve and when the adapter is connected to the hose cuff, the adapter enables the vacuum hose to be coupled with a secondary inlet valve that is different from the primary inlet valve. There is a conductive material on the adapter that completes an electrical circuit by contacting two metal conductors or pins in the secondary inlet valve to activate the central vacuum system when the adapter completes the circuit.

  • Publication number: 20220039624
Abstract: A vacuum hose has a switch that allows an operator to selectively send control signals to a transceiver to control the operation of a central vacuum unit. The switch may be located on a cuff or nozzle defining a distal end of the vacuum hose. The switch is not located on a head unit that couples to the cuff or nozzle and not located on a wall-mounted valve. The switch can be an energy harvesting switch that requires no batteries or no dedicated power source (i.e., not hardwired).

  • Patent number: 10973382
Abstract: A central vacuum system includes a primary valve box or inlet and a secondary inlet. The central vacuum system includes a hose with a hose plug at the end thereof. The hose is stored in the primary valve box and may be extracted and attached to the secondary inlet. The secondary inlet includes features that enable the hose plug to connect with the secondary inlet. The secondary inlet includes at least one flex member that is configured to connect, in a releasable manner, with a channel formed in the hose plug. The flex member on the secondary inlet includes a section or portion thereof that moves radially relative to a longitudinal axis of the secondary inlet. The portion that moves radially may include a curved profile. This enables the flex member to wrap around a circumferential portion of the hose plug.

  • Publication number: 20200281431
Abstract: A closure flap on a vacuum inlet valve assembly or housing pivots between an open first position and a closed second position. When the closure flap is in the open first position, it is offset from a central longitudinal axis of the vacuum inlet valve housing. When the closure flap is in the closed second position, it intersects the central longitudinal axis. The closure flap has a resilient and compressible protrusion that releasable locks the closure flap in each position.

  • Patent number: 9782047
Abstract: A central vacuum cleaning system includes a locking collar mounted at various locations in a structure or RV and connected to the inlet end of a vacuum conduit. A section of hose is slidably mounted within the conduit and extends therefrom for cleaning an adjacent area. A pair of O-rings within the collar frictionally retains a handle mounted on the end of the hose in a stored position when the hose is in a retracted position and provides an air seal between the handle and vacuum supply conduit. A locking mechanism mounted on the collar automatically locks the hose in a selected extended position when manually pulled from the collar by a locking finger engaging an adjacent section of the hose. An electric switch on the collar enables a user to actuate the vacuum supply source. A mounting bracket enables the collar to be mounted at various locations in the structure and a ring formed on the collar enables the collar to be rotated to a desired position on the mounting bracket.

  • Publication number: 20140101886
Abstract: A vacuum hose storage system includes a housing which is mounted in a storage area of a dwelling and connected to a vacuum source. A length of flexible, expandable hose is mounted in a looped fashion about a plurality of rollers rotatably mounted within the housing. A handle is attached to one end of the hose and is seated in a cradle formed in the housing when the hose is in a fully retracted position within the housing. A vacuum source ON/OFF switch is located in the cradle and is actuated when the handle is placed in or removed from the cradle. A control valve on the cradle enables the strength of the vacuum source to be manually controlled by a user.
