Abstract: The invention concerns a lathe which is designed as a processing center and with which other working processes can be carried out in addition to turning work. The tool post (5) contains a processing turret (9) which can be rotated around a vertical axis as well as secured at various angles. The processing turret is equipped with a spindle unit (that can be powered) 11 to hold the tools and has at least one holding fixture (13) for temporary attachment of tools or working units. For tool exchange purposes the tool magazines (14, 15) are placed on the lathe; these allow for a quick exchange of tools and/or tool units. The lathe according to the invention allows a complete working of basic cylinder shapes and--based on retooling and transportation time alone--makes superfluous several machine tools which can perform only one work operation.

Abstract: A three-knife cutting machine for trimming the front side and the head- and foot-side of brochures, books, and the like, in which the products to be trimmed are slidable in stacks with the back side forward from a magazine charged from above downward by carriers adjustable to the desired stack height to the cutting station, and in which there is provided a shutter, likewise adjustable in height, by facing the back of the products to be trimmed, which serves for retaining the products remaining over the stack to be led off.

Abstract: The invention concerns a three-knife trimmer, in which for the purpose of cutting on three sides stacks of books, brochures, or the like, first the side knives and then the front knife, or vice versa, are operated to carry out the cut by a single-revolution shaft, during one revolution, by means of intermediate gears at a single location, whereby the drive system for the knives consists of a guide unit and an operating unit preceding it, which operating unit is comprised of a gear unit (13, 14, 15, 16, 17) with a gear ratio that changes during one revolution of the single-revolution shaft (12). This yields a simple gear system with few parts that is simple in construction, is stable in the path of transmission and shows a harmonic motion pattern, so that the machine can operate at high speeds.
