Abstract: An apparatus and process for separating a gas mixture is disclosed. The apparatus includes a plurality of membrane separation stages comprising a first membrane stage, a second membrane stage, and a third membrane stage. Each of the first, second, and third membrane stages are designed to separate a gas stream provided to them into a permeate stream and a retentate stream. The retentate stream provided from the third membrane stage is configured to be withdrawn as a product, further processed, or discarded. The apparatus further includes a gas transport device with an inlet in communication with the gas mixture and an outlet in communication with the first membrane stage. The controller is in communication with at least one measuring device, and the controller adapts a behavior of the gas transport device in response to a measurement of the at least one measuring device.
Abstract: An apparatus and process for separating a gas mixture is disclosed. The apparatus includes a first membrane stage, a second membrane stage, and a third membrane stage. The first membrane stage includes a first gas separation membrane configured to separate the gas mixture into a first retentate stream and a first permeate stream. The second membrane stage includes a second gas separation membrane configured to separate the first permeate stream into a second retentate stream and a second permeate stream. The second retentate stream of the second membrane stage is recycled back to connect with the first retentate stream to form a mixed fluid stream. The third membrane stage includes a third gas separation membrane configured to separate the mixed fluid stream into a third retentate stream and a third permeate stream, and the third retentate stream is configured to be withdrawn as a product or discarded.
Abstract: Disclosed is a device for optically determining a concentration of alcohol and carbohydrates in a liquid sample. The device includes at least a first and a second light source arranged for exposing the liquid sample in a wavelength range between 750 nm and 1000 nm, a spectrometer arranged to determine a first and a second light intensity by measuring the light from the first and the second light source, a processing unit which is connected to the spectrometer and which is arranged to determine an absorption value of the liquid sample from a comparison of the first and the second light intensity with a reference value. In certain aspects, the device may further include a processing unit that calculates concentrations of alcohol and/or carbohydrates and at least two polarization filters.

Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for preparing pure carbon dioxide (CO2) from a gaseous CO2 containing product, which apparatus comprises a processing line which comprises at least an inlet for the gaseous product, means for removing water-soluble impurities from the product, compression means for compressing and pressurising the product, cleaning means for removing further impurities from the product, as well as storage means for collecting and storing the purified CO2, which elements are interconnected by means of suitable piping. According to the invention, the compression means comprise at least one screw compressor so as to provide an apparatus for preparing pure carbon dioxide from a gaseous CO2 containing product which has a higher efficiency, which is of simpler, cheaper construction and which is easy to maintain.
