  • Patent number: 4342882
Abstract: An automatic dialing pause generator for use in telephone terminals with pulse dialing and additional features such as abbreviated number dialing, redialing, direct dialing and the like automatically provides a pause between selected digits dialed by the telephone terminal. Specifically, the present invention inserts a pause automatically after transmitting a directory number having an exchange code number. Memory write-in logic monitors the dialing input from a keyboard and from a keyboard decoder for the entering of an exchange code number to be stored in an exchange code memory. In addition, the memory write-in logic also recognizes the entering of a dialing command from keyboard and keyboard decoder as normal or abbreviated number dialing and stores it in a directory number memory which controls the dialing through a digit and pause generator.

  • Patent number: 4122735
Abstract: Rod stock pieces are successively fed in a path to a work station of a multiple spindle automatic turning machine such as a lathe. A slide member supports a trailing rod stock piece and is mounted on the machine for movement towards and away from the work station. The slide member is coupled with a drive of the turning machine to thereby move the slide member together with the rod stock piece supported therewith through a stroke of predetermined length. The length of the stroke of the slide member is adjusted in dependence upon the length of the leading rod stock piece located at the work station.

  • Patent number: 4088230
Abstract: Control means for a bar holder and feeder coupled to an automatic machine tool to hold bars for and feed bars to the machine tool and having feed means to feed a bar from the bar holder through a collet of the machine tool, the control means comprising counting means settable to a determined number; trip means operable when in a set position to trip the counting means once for each work piece machined; trigger means effective to move said trip means to the set position when a new length of bar is fed into the bar holder; and coupling means coupling the counting means to means controlling machining operation of the machine tool; said determined number being settable so that, after a number of workpieces equal to said determined number have been machined from a length of bar preceding said new length of bar, such that the remnant of said length of bar is not of sufficient length safely to permit machining of a further workpiece therefrom, the counting means cause the coupling means to stop the machine tool and

  • Patent number: 4083307
Abstract: A firing cap assembly has an interior percussion charge for producing a fire jet along a path in a predetermined direction which extends generally from one side of the assembly towards the other side thereof. The assembly is inserted into a casing having a base wall which extends across the path of the fire jet, and side walls which extend generally along the predetermined direction and which have bendable wall portions at said one side of the assembly. The casing and the assembly mounted therein are both inserted into a cavity of a firing cap carrier having bendable flange portions at said one side of the assembly. The flange portions are bent in direction generally transversely of the predetermined direction to a position in which the wall portions are located intermediate the flange portions and said one side of the assembly so as to form a corner region with said one side of the assembly.

  • Patent number: 4070723
Abstract: A method for automatically controlling the operation of a rod-working apparatus of the type including a rod-feeding unit which feeds towards a cyclically operating work tool a certain length of rod per work cycle of the tool. There are selected a minimum and a maximum distance through which a rod to be fed towards the work tool is to be permitted to advance per work cycle of the tool. A rod is fed towards and into the range of operation of the tool. The actual distance advanced by the rod during a work cycle of the tool is determined. It is also determined whether the actual distance of advancement falls within the range defined between the preselected minimum and maximum distances. When the actual distance falls outside such range, operation of the rod-feeding unit is terminated.

  • Patent number: 4068546
Abstract: A screw machine has a displaceable headstock and is provided with a pusher rod having at its front end a chuck that engages the rear end of a bar that passes axially through the headstock. This pusher rod is connected to a chain drive at least one of whose sprockets is connectable through a clutch to a gear meshing with a rack carried on the headstock. When this clutch is closed the headstock and pusher rod are positively locked together for joint displacement. During feed operations the two are disconnected so that the pusher rod can displace a new length of bar through the headstock, and the pusher rod may be arrested during backward displacement of the headstock in order to allow the chuck thereof to get new purchase on the bar.

  • Patent number: 4068545
Abstract: A screw machine has a headstock provided with an openable and closable chuck rotatable at high speed and having a throughgoing aperture of cross-sectional shape complementary to that of a bar to be machined in the screw machine. A feed apparatus for this machine comprises means for detecting the rotational speed of the chuck and for generating a speed output when the rotational speed lies within a predetermined range. In addition, a pusher is provided which only advances the bar into the aperture of the chuck after generation of the output. This pusher is engageable with an abutment that is only displaced out of its way when the speed output is generated. Furthermore the apparatus generates a position output when the bar is properly in place and has a timer which withdraws the bar from the chuck if within a predetermined time limit after generation of the speed output the position output is not generated, indicating that the apparatus is unable to load the bar.

  • Patent number: 4065989
Abstract: An arrangement for feeding rod-shaped workpieces to a machine tool comprises an elongated hollow guide member for accommodating a respective workpiece therein. A support structure extends longitudinally of the guide member and surrounds the same with spacing, and a plurality of elongated elastically yieldable members extends longitudinally of the guide member in the spacing and supports the guide member in the support structure. The oscillations to which the guide member is subjected during the operation of the arrangement are damped by the elastically yieldable members so that they are not transmitted to the support structure. The elastically yieldable members may be hollow tubes into which a pressurized medium is introduced, and the pressure of the medium may be adjusted so as to correspond to the various working conditions.

  • Patent number: 4008666
Abstract: A watertight and corrosion-resistant percussion igniter has a housing, a percussion cap in the housing and a firing pin mounted in the housing and having a free end spaced from and adapted to impact the percussion cap. A one-piece tubular holder surrounds the firing pin and has at least one transverse hole, and a retaining member is located in the hole and engages in a depression formed in the firing pin. A biasing spring biases the firing pin towards the percussion cap and makes the free end of the firing pin impact the cap when the retaining member becomes disengaged from the depression so that the firing pin can move relative to the tubular holder.
