Abstract: A method for preventing plugging of a suction roll of a paper machine is described, which includes showering sealing water having incorporated therein from 10 to 500 ppm by weight, based on the sealing water, of malic acid on an inner wall of a shell of the suction roll.
Abstract: Popcorn polymer growth on the inner surface of an olefin production apparatus is inhibited by treating a popcorn polymer with an efficient amount of a popcorn polymer growth inhibitor while the operation of the apparatus is suspended and olefins are removed from the apparatus.
Abstract: The formation of popcorn polymer on the inner surface of an olefin production apparatus is inhibited by treating the surface with a surface treating agent comprising an organic acid and/or salts thereof and at least one member selected from the group consisting of a corrosion-resistant agent, a reducing agent and a penetrant, and balance being water.
Abstract: Specified sulfur compounds such as N,N-diethylthiourea, N,N-dibutylthiourea, tetramethylthiuram monosulfide, tetrabutylthiuram monosulfide, tetraethylthiuram disulfide, tetrabutylthiuram disulfide are supplied as a coking inhibitor for preventing coking in equipment used in hydrocarbon treatment processes wherein a hydrocarbon is treated at a temperature of from about 250.degree. C. to 950.degree. C. to produce petroleum products, petrochemical products and/or their intermediate products.
Abstract: Chemical treatments for detackification and separation of over-sprayed paints and lacquers in spray booths without corrosion and pollution problems. Water used to wash the air in paint or lacquer spray booths in order to remove over-sprayed paint or lacquers is treated with alkali-metal zincates optionally further containing strong cationic polyamine to reduce the tackiness of paint and lacquer solids and thereby reduce the tendency of oversprayed paints and lacquers to adhere to walls, ceilings and floors of said spray booths and also to condition the paint and lacquer solids removed with the water so that they can be separated and the water recycled for further use in washing the air in the spray booth. Furthermore, very little corrosion of air ducts, walls and ceilings of said spray booths, due to concentrated salts from the added chemicals, is expected because both alkali metal zincates and cationic polyamines contain only trace amounts of chlorides and sulfates.
