Patent number: 5730172Abstract: An inlet valve for an air drier between an inlet (35) from a compressor and an inlet bore (32) comprises an axially movable valve element (31), a spring (34) for biasing the valve element into a closing position against a seat (30'), and a valve element shoulder (31'), on which the pressure in the inlet is arranged to act in a valve opening direction. A sealing on the shoulder is in the form of a U-sealing (36) allowing air under pressure admitted to the underside of the valve element for urging the latter in a valve closing direction to pass by the sealing to the inlet but preventing flow in the opposite direction.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1996Date of Patent: March 24, 1998Assignee: Haldex ABInventors: Gerald Rodell, Sven-Olof Larsson, Curtis S. Patent number: 5327999Abstract: A brake lever for an S-cam brake has a worm wheel (3) engaging the S-cam shaft and a worm screw (4) meshing therewith. A clutch wheel (6) on the worm screw forms a clutch (8) therewith under the bias of a compression spring (9). A control movement is transmitted from an external reference point to the clutch wheel via a pinion (15), a carrier wheel (16) and a control screw (18), the common axis of these three parts being perpendicular to the worm screw, wherein the control screw meshes with the clutch wheel. The carrier wheel can be turned relative to the pinion an angular distance corresponding to the desired slack and is biassed to one end position by a torsion spring (17), which is also used to engage a one-way clutch (19) between the carrier wheel and the control screw.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 1993Date of Patent: July 12, 1994Assignee: Haldex ABInventor: Ake Nelander

Patent number: 5234482Abstract: A retarding valve at a single-tower air drier for obtaining a controlled time for the flow of regenerating air from an air tank to a desiccant cartridge has a movable valve stem (7), which is provided with a piston (14) having a slightly smaller diameter than a chamber (13), in which it is movable in hydraulic oil (15), so that a narrow circumferential slit for the oil is formed. The valve stem with its piston is biased by a spring (16) from a position--at the beginning of each regenerating cycle--permitting flow through the valve to a position closing off flow through the valve.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 1991Date of Patent: August 10, 1993Assignee: Haldex ABInventors: Sven-Olof Larsson, Bo Lundstrom, Lars M. Patent number: 5103944Abstract: A wedge-type actuator for actuating drum brakes including guide rollers positioned between the wedge and a plunger that contacts the leading brake shoe. The guide rollers are carried between a guiding surface on the wedge and a guiding surface in the housing, to take up the reaction forces caused by the larger actuation forces needed to operate the trailing brake shoe. The disclosed arrangement provides more even braking forces, and thereby results in more even brake shoe wear.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1988Date of Patent: April 14, 1992Assignee: Haldex ABInventor: Lars M. Severinsson

Patent number: 4699256Abstract: A wedge brake arrangement for drum brakes on heavy road vehicles includes a brake cylinder push rod (29), plungers (26) axially movable perpendicularly to the push rod, and force transmitting rollers (32) between parallel wedge surfaces at the end of the push rod and on the respective plunger. In order to obtain full control over the reaction forces from the plungers (26) at brake operation the push rod (29) is guided by the housing (25) of the arrangement in the plane of the plungers by means of guide rollers (35) between plane surfaces at the end of the push rod (29) and in the housing (25), respectively, the surfaces being parallel with each other and with the axis of the push rod.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1986Date of Patent: October 13, 1987Assignee: Haldex ABInventor: Lars M. Severinsson

Patent number: 4570228Abstract: The invention relates to taximeter installations including mobile taximeter apparatus (2) coacting via radio (3, 4) with a central computer (1). Each taximeter (2) includes registers (15, 26) for collecting pulses relating to travelled distance and consumed time, the central computer (1) initiating periodic read-out (20, 21, 29, 30) of the register content, inter alia for fare price calculation. The central computer also sets a criterion frequency value, so that the pulses related to travelled distance are prevented by means of a circuit (9) from being stored in the register (15) when the frequency of said pulses falls below the criterion frequency, time pulses being stored in a register (26) when the criterion frequency is not attained by the travelled distance pulses.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1982Date of Patent: February 11, 1986Assignee: Haldex ABInventor: Krister Ahlberg

Patent number: 4510379Abstract: A control device for an instrument (10) attached to a vehicle wheel hub for recording the distance covered by the vehicle comprises a counting mechanism with several number-carrying wheels (25), a stamping mechanism (29,30) for stamping cards, a means (14) for advancing the number-carrying wheels of the counting mechanism in response to the distance covered, and a pendulum, the oscillation axis of which coincides with the vehicle wheel axle, and which by substantially standing still effects a relative movement in relation to the recording instrument. This movement is utilized for driving the means for advancing the number-carrying wheels of the counting mechanism via a gear unit (12). The means for advancing the number-carrying wheels of the counting mechanism comprise a feed hook (14), which is deformed permanently when number-carrying wheels of the counting mechanism are blocked, and thereby effects permanent closing of a first electric contact (14b-34).Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 1983Date of Patent: April 9, 1985Assignee: Haldex ABInventors: Sven Wallqvist, Rune Sund

Patent number: 4306580Abstract: An overflow return tank, especially for receiving return fuel at internal combustion engines with fuel gauge, comprising a receptacle (20, 21, 22) with an inlet (23) located upwardly for a return flow and an outlet (25) and an air bleed hole (24), and with a float (30) located within the receptacle for controlling a valve (26, 36, 31a) located at the outlet of the receptacle. The valve comprises a soft, elastic diaphragm (36), which is connected to the float (30) and upon lifting of the float gradually exposes the outlet (25) by being bent, so that fuel can be taken out from the overflow return tank. Owing to the design of the valve only a small lifting force from the float is required, whereby the fuel amount in the overflow return tank can be maintained substantially constant even at great variations in the return flow. The overflow return tank, besides, can be given small dimensions.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 1979Date of Patent: December 22, 1981Assignee: Haldex ABInventors: Sven Wallquist, Rune Sund

Patent number: 4250748Abstract: Two pairs of reciprocating pistons are selectively driven by a volume of fluid to be measured. The pairs are perpendicular to one another and connected to a crank for converting the reciprocating motion into rotary motion to magnetically drive a recording means. A valve is driven by the crank for selectively controlling the flow of the liquid into the piston bores. A conical member limits the stroke of one set of the pistons thereby adjusting the stroke of the meter. The member has a bimetal unit which automatically adjusts the stroke in response to the temperature of the liquid.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 1978Date of Patent: February 17, 1981Assignee: Haldex ABInventor: Sven Wallqvist
