Abstract: The cord system comprises a relatively thin detonating cord which can be readily bent round small diameter corners and is of low weight per unit length, the cord comprising an outer relatively thick tube and an inner relatively thin tube of a different material of greater density than the outer tube, the secondary explosive for detonation being within the inner tube. When ignited the cord remains thereby protecting any apparatus positioned close to it from damage by the explosion contained within the cord.
Abstract: A pyrotechnic assembly has an outer container for a plurality of pyrotechnic elements, each of which has a propellant charge, to propel the element out of the container, and a pyrotechnic charge, for example for producing a radiation-blocking screen. The container may be used as a fixed launcher for the elements or may itself be a projectile or missile from which the elements are ejected in flight. A plurality of different pyrotechnic charges may be included in the element.
Abstract: A pyrotechnic composition for producing a screen for blocking the passage of infra-red radiation and of light, comprises phosphorus, preferably red amorphous phosphorus, dispersed in a binding agent, for example rubber. The composition is produced by forming the binding agent into a gel with solvent, dispersing the phosphorus into the gel, evaporating off solvent, and comminuting the resulting solid material.
Abstract: A pyrotechnic or explosive device comprises a pyrotechnic or explosive charge and an electrical firing circuit therefor. The firing circuit includes a source of electrical energy, an electrical firing element to ignite the charge, and an electric switch connected between the energy source and the firing element. The switch includes biasing means and manually engageable means for holding the switch open against the biasing means. Delay means, either pyrotechnic or electrical, are preferably included.
