Abstract: An airbag of an airbag restraint system mounted on an automotive vehicle and adapted to protect a vehicle passenger in a serious vehicle collision. The airbag is formed of front and rear side sheet-like members which are sewn with each other at their peripheral portions to be bag-shaped. Each sheet-like member includes a cloth which is woven with warp and weft yams formed of polyester resin or nylon 6, 6 fibers. The cloth is impregnated with a resinous material including a polyurethane resin adhesive for the fibers, so that the yarns of the sheet-like member are bound with each other thereby effectively preventing fray from occurrence even upon cutting of the sheet-like member.

Abstract: A shock absorbing belt for a child, of a seat belt restraint system or of a child seat in an automotive vehicle. The shock absorbing belt comprises base yarns including warp and weft yarns which are interlaced with each other. A plurality of additional yarns are inserted along the longitudinal direction of the warp yarns and at predetermined intervals in the longitudinal direction of each weft yarn. The additional yarns are lower in elongation percentage and higher in strength than the base yarns. Each additional yarn is placed between upper weft yarns and lower weft yarns. The additional yarns have a total size of not more than 12000 D/cm, and a yarn size of not more than 1500 D. Each additional yarn is breakable when a high impact load is applied to the shock absorbing belt.

Abstract: A woven fabric for a seat belt comprises warp and weft yarns which are combined to constitute a woven base which extends in a given way, and extra yarns which are held in the woven base and extend substantially straightly along the given way. The extra yarns are constructed of a material whose extensibility is lower than that of materials of the warp and weft yarns and whose tensile strength is higher than that of the materials of the warp and weft yarns.

Abstract: An airbag of an airbag restraint system mounted on an automotive vehicle and adapted to protect a vehicle passenger in a serious vehicle collision. The airbag is formed of a cloth which is basically constituted of warp and weft yarns made of a high melting point polymer material. Low melting point polymer yarns are woven in the cloth in a manner to extend along the warp and weft yarns. The low melting point polymer yarns are located at predetermined intervals, and have a melting point lower than that of the high melting point polymer material. The low melting point polymer yarns melt upon heating in a heat treatment so as to be welded to the high warp and weft yarns thereby securely binding the warp yarns together and the weft yarns together.
