Abstract: A system for transmission of power includes a clutch having a driven clutch member and a driving clutch member. The driven and driving clutch members are operatively connected to one another for common rotation in a first position with the clutch members engaged to one another and for rotation relative to one another in a second position with the clutch members disengaged from one another. An eddy-current coupling is operatively connected to selectively move at least one of the clutch members to engage and disengage the clutch members between the first and second positions. The eddy-current coupling is also operatively connected to provide electromagnetic eddy-current coupling between the clutch members with the clutch members in the second position disengaged from one another to drive the driven clutch member at a rate different from that of the driving clutch member.

Abstract: The invention relates to a syringe, comprising: a syringe body (12) having an axial inner cavity (16), which extends in the direction of a longitudinal axis (LA) of the syringe body (12) and in which a plunger (14) can be or is accommodated in such a way that the plunger can be moved in the longitudinal direction, and a needle (18), which can be or is connected to the syringe body (12) at a longitudinal end of the syringe body (12), wherein the syringe body (12) has a coupling segment (20) at the needle-side longitudinal end of the syringe body (12), to which coupling segment (20) the needle (18) can be or is fastened by means of a connecting element (22) that can be slid on in the longitudinal direction. According to the invention, at least one radially inward cavity (34) is provided on the coupling segment (20), which cavity can be brought into engagement or is in engagement with at least one corresponding locking segment (32) provided on the connecting element (22).
Abstract: A cabin air compressor drive ring includes an outer ring defining an axis, an inner ring co-axial with the outer ring, a plurality of webbings connecting the inner ring to the outer ring, and a plurality of vane engagement pins axially protruding from the outer ring. The vane engagement pins are spaced circumferentially about the outer ring, and the inner ring includes a drive ring bearing interface.
Abstract: In one aspect, a turbine engine is provided. The engine includes a fan, a core engine case configured to receive a core airflow, and an inner fan case. An inner air bypass is defined between the core engine case and the inner fan case, and the engine further includes an outer fan case, an outer air bypass defined between the inner fan case and the outer fan case, a first heat exchanger arranged in the core engine case, the first heat exchanger providing heat exchange between the liquid and the core airflow to cool the core airflow, and a second heat exchanger arranged in the outer air bypass. The second heat exchanger is fluidly coupled to the first heat exchanger to receive the cooled core airflow. The second heat exchanger provides heat exchange between cooled core airflow and the second portion of airflow to further cool the cooled core airflow.

Abstract: A steam iron comprises a housing, a handle supported by or integral with the housing, a soleplate having a plurality of steam vents defined therein, a water reservoir supported by the housing for holding water to be converted to steam, and a water fill funnel supported by the housing and/or the handle for adding water to the reservoir. The water fill funnel has a top rim defining a top opening. The water fill funnel defines a bottom opening that is in fluid connection with the water reservoir. At least a portion of the water fill funnel is external to the housing.
Abstract: A laser assembly is provided which includes an objective assembly having an objective and a dichroic mirror, a collimating assembly having a collimating lens and a selectively displaceable mount, and a laser supply assembly having a laser source. The laser assembly can provide laser light through the collimating lens, which collimates the laser light into a collimated beam. The laser beam is preferably transmitted onto the dichroic mirror, which reflects the laser light through the objective along the optical path of the objective which converges into a focal point. Such a laser assembly preferably provides substantial control of the laser beam, for example, for micromanipulation of a sample.

Abstract: An iron includes a housing having a sole plate on a base end thereof and a water reservoir therein, for receiving water therein. A water fill valve assembly is in fluid communication with the reservoir. The valve assembly includes a one way check valve having an open first end, an opposing expandable second end proximate the water reservoir, and a valve body extending therebetween. The second end of the check valve is normally in a first constricted configuration, substantially preventing water within the water reservoir from freely exiting therethrough, and is expandable by water poured into the open first end of the valve and flowing to the second end, such that the poured-in water substantially freely flows therethrough and into the water reservoir. The second end of the check valve returns to the first configuration after the poured in water has passed therethrough.
Abstract: A kitchen appliance includes a first reservoir for receiving a liquid to be used for preparing a beverage. A hot water generator (‘HWG’) has an inlet end, an outlet end and a passageway extending therebetween. The inlet end of the HWG is connected to the first reservoir. Liquid from the first reservoir flows into the HWG through the inlet end. A second reservoir is connected to the outlet end of the HWG. The second reservoir includes a discharge port, a gas vent and a skirt extending from a wall of the second reservoir further than the gas vent. The skirt at least partially surrounds the gas vent. At least a portion of the skirt is spaced laterally inwardly from an outer sidewall of the second reservoir.
