Patent number: 7600417Abstract: A fuel delivery system uses a volumetric flow sensor and a densiometer to measure a mass flow rate of the fuel. A densiometer may be a coriolis mass flow sensor etched into a small circuit chip. As fuel flows past the densiometer a density of the fuel and characteristic slope as a function of temperature is determined. At least one temperature sensor is also located on the circuit chip to provide accurate temperature of the fuel to correspond to the fuel density reading. Piezoelectric crystals in the volumetric flow sensor generate and receive a sound wave. By analyzing the sound wave signals the volumetric flow rate of fluid through the volumetric flow sensor can be calculated. At least one temperature sensor is also placed on the volumetric flow sensor to correct for any thermal expansion of an inner diameter of the volumetric flow sensor and for final mass flow calculation.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2005Date of Patent: October 13, 2009Assignee: Hamilton Sundstrand CorporationInventor: Bruce Paradise

Patent number: 7586224Abstract: A rectifier assembly includes individual diodes arranged to form a full-wave bridge such that the silicon wafers of the diodes are loaded in compression. As so arranged, the centrifugal forces add to the compression forces on the diodes and on the electrical contacts therewith. The three-phase (AC) input conductors are connected by conductive straps which connect the diodes through to DC (+/?) terminal ring outputs. One surface of each of the diodes is in electrical contact with a conductive strap which then connects with the individual (AC) phases of an exciter rotor winding. The opposing surface of the diode contacts the ring diode pad on either the DC (+/?) output terminal ring. Two conductive posts, each of which are connected to only one of the DC (+/?) output terminal rings permit external connection to a main rotor winding.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2005Date of Patent: September 8, 2009Assignee: Hamilton Sundstrand CorporationInventors: Mark A. Publication number: 20090219692Abstract: The present invention provides a rack suitable for housing a liquid-cooled electric unit. A rack 2 comprises an electric connector 12 for supplying electricity to the housed electric unit 50, and a fluid connector 14 for supplying cooling liquid to the housed electric unit 50. The fluid connector 14 and the electric connector 12 are arranged at different positions in a horizontal cross section (plane) of the rack 2. More preferably, the electric connector 12 is mounted on a back panel 6 of the rack 2, while the fluid connector 14 is mounted on the foreside of the rack 2. Such a configuration makes it less likely that the cooling liquid leaking from the fluid connector 14 drips onto the electric connector 12.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 3, 2008Publication date: September 3, 2009Applicants: NABTESCO CORPORATION, HAMILTON SUNDSTRANDInventors: Jeffrey T.
