Abstract: An appliance for producing frozen food products, such as ice cream or slush drinks, includes a cooling cylinder connected in a refrigeration circuit, the cooling cylinder including a thermally-conductive cylinder wall and end cap closing the distal end of the cylinder wall, the cylinder wall and end cap separating refrigerant on one side from product to be frozen on the other side. A divider member disposed adjacent the cylinder wall forms contiguous evaporator compartments spaced apart axially. Restrictor passages in the divider member permit communication between contiguous compartments and refrigerant first enters the first-cooled evaporator compartment at one of the axial ends and flows in series between the evaporator compartments. For fast, efficient freezing of small batches, the product to be frozen is either driven by the auger, or drains, toward the first-cooled evaporator compartment.

Abstract: A cooking appliance includes a base upon which a pot is supported, with a stirrer configured as a lid, for closing an open top of the pot. A tool coupled to a motorized drive of the stirrer extends downwardly into the pot. A heating element is coupled to the base and resiliently biased outwardly from the base to engage the base of the pot. A latch mechanism is provided for releasably connecting the pot to the base. The motorized drive includes a planetary gear set mounted coaxially with a pot axis, and a tool coupling is connected to a planet gear of the planetary gear set to drive the stirring tool in an orbital motion.

Abstract: A toasting appliance includes a pair of elongate radiant elements, and provides relative movement between the radiant elements and the foodstuff to be toasted, so as to traverse the foodstuff with the elements, or vice versa. For faster operating speed and improved efficiency, a control circuit receives a toasting-control signal and controls a switch to energise the elements only during a portion of the amplitude of relative displacement produced between the carriage and elements, the portion being defined by the toasting-control signal. Correct movement of the elements is monitored by a control circuit that de-energises the elements when, due to a fault, one of the elements and the carriage departs from a defined velocity profile.

Complementary flat surfaces on the first and second jaws allow hair to be straightened therebetween and complementary curved faces on the clamp and second jaw provide for hair held therebetween to be waved. Both jaws and the clamp have apertures in which a latch is received. The latch is moveable substantially parallel to the transverse axis of the pivot between a first position for connecting the second jaw and the clamp together for pivoting relative to the first jaw and a second position, for connecting the first and second jaws together, while permitting relative pivoting of the clamp.

Abstract: An electric hair straightening/waving iron includes a handle, a first elongate heating member extending from the handle and having a distal end portion and a proximal end portion, and a second elongate heating member having a distal end portion, and a proximal end portion. The proximal end portion of the second heating member is attached pivotally to the proximal end portion of the first heating member. A locking mechanism at the distal end portions of the first and second heating members selectively locks the first and second heating members alongside one another, and releases the second heating member for pivotal movement relative to the first heating member.

Abstract: A heated hair curler includes a first portion having a heating element and an electric terminal in circuit with the heating element. A second portion is attached to the first portion in heat exchange relationship with it and is reconfigurable with respect to the first portion so as to alter the overall length of the hair curler. There are intermeshing elongate fingers that slide upon one another as the curler is reconfigured.
