Patents Assigned to Hannes Marker
  • Patent number: 3998474
Abstract: In a safety ski-binding for connecting a ski boot directly to a ski or over a sole plate of the ski by means of an extensible cable near each of the front and back of the boot, extension of the cable being resiliently opposed by the spring of a cable drum and the cable being only deliberately detachable from the boot or sole plate, the boot or sole plate is held to the ski against vertical as well as horizontal motion by two latching devices each comprising a catch member on the ski or on the boot or sole plate and a latch member movable with respect to the catch member and biased into engagement therewith by the cable.

  • Patent number: 3998473
Abstract: In a safety ski-binding connecting a ski boot to the sole plate of a ski or directly on a ski by means of two cable controls which can each be pulled out to a limited extent against the force of a spring, retaining means are provided in association with each cable control to prevent automatic resetting of the cable control after the latter has been extended during a fall. The retaining means are only deliberately releasable and may comprise a ratchet wheel connected to the cable drum to rotate therewith and a pawl associated with the ratchet for normally preventing the drum from turning back.

  • Patent number: 3992031
Abstract: In a safety ski-binding where the ski boot is connected to the ski by a sole plate which is releasably held to the ski by retaining means, any undesirable play between said retaining means and the sole plate that might be caused by manufacturing tolerances, inaccuracies in assembly and the like is compensated by the provision in a recess of the sole plate of at least one slide member which passes therethrough and is vertically displaceable relatively thereto within limits, the lower end of the slide member resting on the ski and the sole of the boot coming to lie on the upper end.

  • Patent number: 3989273
Abstract: In a mounting device for the heel of a ski boot, a sole depressor is lockable in a heel-engaging pivoted position irrespective of the sole thickness or any snow packed beneath the sole. A locking arm carried by the sole depressor or a frame member passes through a hole in a clamping plate pivoted to the frame member or depressor, respectively. A spring acts on the clamping plate so that the locking arm is canted in the hole and binds on the edges of the hole, thereby locking the sole depressor against movement to a heel-releasing position. A handle can deliberately unlock the sole depressor by straightening the clamping plate against the action of the spring so that the locking arm is no longer canted and no longer binds on the edges of the hole.

  • Patent number: 3961801
Abstract: In a heel-holding device for ski bindings in which a sole depressor equipped with a closing pedal is pivoted to the ski about a horizontal transverse shaft disposed behind the boot and is resiliently pressed onto the upper sole rim by a spring, the force of the spring being transmitted to the sole depressor by an interposed locking member which is pivoted to the ski parallel to the sole depressor, and in which the locking member is deliberately pivotable to a depressor-releasing position by means of a handle so that the sole depressor can assume its open position under the influence of a second spring that is weaker than the first spring, the transverse shaft of the locking member is disposed on the boot side of the transverse shaft of the sole depressor and the locking member is provided with a recess for receiving a latch member of the sole depressor, the recess being formed with a slide track and adjoining catch groove co-operating with the latch member.

  • Patent number: 3950003
Abstract: In a method of automatically releasing a ski boot from a ski in case of danger, the force acting on the leg of the skier and the duration of application of said force are ascertained individually and represented as distances, the sum of said distances is compared with a predetermined distance representing a threshold value and, when such threshold value is reached, a connection between the boot and the ski is released. Apparatus for performing this method comprises at least one boot retaining member, a locking device for said retaining member, a threshold value switch acting on said locking device, a duration evaluating member, and a force receiver, the duration evaluating member being provided with a drive motor, such as a plate spring, which is operative when a predetermined minimum force is exerted on the force receiver.

  • Patent number: 3937480
Abstract: The skiing boot is connected to the ski by a separate soleplate, which in each of its forward and rear portions has at least one soleholder and to which the skiing boot is secured so as to be only arbitrarily adjustable. A plate holder is mounted on the ski and comprises a pivot bearing for the soleplate adjacent to the rear half of the latter. Adjacent to the rear end of the soleplate, the plate holder is provided with an element of a detent device, which in response to an overload in a vertical and/or horizontal direction releases the soleplate. Adjacent to the forward portion of the soleplate the plate holder is provided with a member for holding down the soleplate. The female detent element of the detent device is part of the plate holder. The male detent element of the detent device is provided on the soleplate. The soleplate is provided with raised side cheeks adjacent to the detent device.
