    Abstract: A method for preparing a reduction catalyst for water electrolysis using protective coating; a reduction electrode for alkaline water electrolysis comprising a reduction catalyst prepared thereby, and an alkaline water electrolysis system are disclosed. The method for preparing a reduction catalyst for water electrolysis applies a protective coating method and suppresses the growth of alloy particles in a subsequent high-temperature heat treatment step, and, thus, can prepare and provide a catalyst with a high alloying degree. As a result, a non-novel metal alloy catalyst prepared according to the method of the present invention has excellent catalytic characteristics by exhibiting hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) performance similar to that of platinum, which is a noble metal catalyst.
