Patents Assigned to Hardide Limited
  • Patent number: 7166371
Abstract: There is disclosed a cutting tool having a blade coated on one side with a hard coating living a laminar or layered microstructure. The coating tends to wear evenly and smoothly, thereby keeping a cutting edge of the cutting tool smooth. Furthermore, by coating the cutting edge on one side only, the cutting edge becomes self-sharpening. The coating preferably includes at least one layer made of tungsten carbides substantially or entirely free of metallic tungsten.

  • Patent number: 7022403
Abstract: The inventive coating for diamond and diamond-containing materials represents a coupling of an internal layer, made of tungsten carbide, with an external tungsten layer, both layers being fluorine alloyed. The inventive coating makes it possible to ensure a good adhesion of diamonds and diamond-containing materials to a backing. Methods for applying said coatings are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6800383
Abstract: New tungsten carbides alloyed with fluorine in amounts up to 0.5 wt % and possibly with fluorocarbon compositions are described. It is possible to produce them by means of a new process of chemical vapor deposition, in which tungsten hexafluoride, hydrogen and a carbon-containing gas are used. A specific feature of the new process is the preliminary thermal activation of the carbon-containing gas. The tungsten carbide coatings are deposited on construction materials and items made from them. They possess enhanced resistance to wear, corrosion and chemicals.
