Abstract: An overhead-cam internal combustion engine includes a crankshaft, a drive wheel rotatable by the crankshaft, a cylinder head, a driven wheel rotatable by the drive wheel, and a camshaft provided within the cylinder head, the camshaft being rotatable by the driven wheel. A flexible drive member extends around the drive wheel and the driven wheel such that power from the crankshaft for rotating the camshaft is transmitted through the flexible drive member. A pair of guide members are positioned to guide a path of the flexible drive member that increases an amount of peripheral wrap of the flexible drive member about the driven wheel. The guide members have co-facing inboard guide surfaces that partially define the path. A tensioner is positioned between the co-facing inboard guide surfaces, and the tensioner is operable to exert a pulling force that increases tension in the flexible drive member during operation.

Abstract: A pushrod tube cover assembly for an engine includes a first tube configured to cover a pushrod and a second tube configured to cover the pushrod. The first tube has an inner diameter larger than an outer diameter of the second tube such that the second tube is configured to be slidably positioned in the first tube. An annular groove formed in a first end of the first tube, wherein a diameter of the groove is larger than the inner diameter of the first tube. An annular seal is disposed within the groove of the second tube to sealingly engage an outer surface of the second tube adjacent to a first end of the second tube.

Abstract: A detachable accessory for a saddle-ride vehicle includes a latching assembly supported on a side plate and having a latch member and handle. The latch member has a hooked latching portion and an elongated portion. The latch member is supported at a fixed pivot on the side plate for rotation between unlatched and latched positions. The handle is supported on the elongated portion and is biased in a first direction so that an end portion of the handle follows the rear edge of the side plate and forms a detent mechanism including a male detent member, a first receptacle to receive the male member to hold the latch member in the unlatched position and a second receptacle to receive the male member to hold the latch member in the latched position. The first receptacle is shallower than the second. A cam surface extends from the first receptacle to the second.

Abstract: A cylinder for a V-twin engine includes a section of steel tubing cut to a length. The section of steel tubing includes a first portion having a first wall thickness and a second portion having a second wall thickness less than the first wall thickness. The second wall thickness is less than 0.050 inch. The section of steel tubing includes a first ribbing pattern on an outer surface, within the first portion, and a second ribbing pattern including multiple ribs formed on individual ribs of the first ribbing pattern. A cast body is provided on the first portion of the section of steel tubing so that the section of steel tubing is fixedly secured within the body to form a cylinder sleeve defining a cylinder bore. The second portion having the second wall thickness extends from an end of the body to be received within a bore of a crankcase.

Abstract: A fuel tank assembly for a motorcycle. The fuel tank assembly includes a fuel tank defining a fuel containment volume. The fuel tank has an upper wall. A fuel cap is operable to selectively open and close the fuel containment volume. A motorcycle accessory is attachable to the fuel tank via a connection structure including first and second connection portions that are complementary and inter-engageable together to positively define a fully-secured state. The first connection portion is secured to an exterior surface of the upper wall of the fuel tank, and the second connection portion is secured to the motorcycle accessory. The connection structure defines a finite position and rotational orientation of the motorcycle accessory upon relative rotation of the motorcycle accessory with respect to the fuel tank to the fully secured state.
