  • Patent number: 8983112
Abstract: A planar speaker system may include a bottom frame having a cavity. Within this cavity a plurality of magnets may be arranged to form a substantially circular pattern. A diaphragm that includes a plurality of electrically conductive traces may be connected to the bottom frame and extend across the cavity of the bottom frame. When alternating current flows through the electrically conductive traces, the diaphragm may vibrate in response to the interaction between the current flowing in the electrically conductive traces and the magnetic field, thereby producing sound. The planar speaker system may include a top frame having a cavity, and a second set of magnets may be disposed in the cavity of the top frame.

  • Patent number: 8977769
Abstract: A network communication system includes a listener that receives a plurality of data streams from a talker. The data in the data streams may be identical. The listener identifies one of the data streams as a primary data stream and another of the plurality of data streams as a non-primary data stream. The listener may process data in the primary data stream, and may buffer a minimal amount of data in the non-primary data stream. In the event of a failure or disruption in reception of the primary data stream, the listener may switch over to processing the data in the non-primary data stream. The switch over to processing the non-primary data may be performed in a manner that ensures lossless failover.

  • Patent number: 8977759
Abstract: A system that includes a talker, a listener, and a controller may communicate over an Ethernet Audio/Video Bridging network. The controller may communicate control messages to manage data streams between the talker and the listener through one or more application layer interfaces of the talker and the listener. Based on the control messages, the talker and the listener may communicate using a Stream Reservation Protocol to reserve connection for, or remove connection from, the data streams. The talker and listener may communicate the success of reserving or removing the connections to the controller through the application layer interfaces.

  • Patent number: 8971547
Abstract: A loudspeaker array and methods for generating sound in an arc pattern. The loudspeaker array includes a plurality of loudspeakers. A delay network is included, the delay network having a plurality of stages. Each stage has a stage input and a stage output. The stage output of each stage is coupled to the stage input of a next stage. Each stage output is also connected to at least one of the plurality of loudspeakers. The stage input of the first stage is coupled to an audio signal input. Each stage is configured to add an electrical delay of the audio signal at each subsequent stage. The electrical delay is adjusted such that the plurality of loudspeakers generates sound in a desired radiation pattern.

  • Patent number: 8942395
Abstract: A pointing element enhanced speaker system addresses the need for consistent sound. Despite wide variations in the design and architecture of different venues, the system helps performers ensure that they deliver the desired sound for their audiences. Performers and their technicians, though faced with grueling schedules that impose severe time constraints on equipment setup and tuning as the performers move between venues, may turn to the system to provide the sound desired at each new venue.

  • Patent number: 8942391
Abstract: A distortion compensation system minimizes distortion in an audio system by monitoring a supply voltage and adjusting a clipping threshold and/or compression knee. An adjustable gain circuit controls the gain of the audio signal according whether the audio signal exceeds a variable threshold. The variable threshold is adjusted within a threshold range based on the supply voltage. Distortion due to clipping of the audio signal is minimized while available power at any given time is maximized.

  • Patent number: 8938675
Abstract: A system for automating generation of an audio/video (AV) control interface includes a computing device having a processor to enable a user, with a user interface of the computing device, to configure the AV system. The processor may enable the user to draw output zones to create a representation of a geographical layout of a venue in which the AV system is located. The processor may enable the user to place transmitting and receiving AV devices within the output zones that substantially represent physical locations thereof within the venue. The processor may enable the user to logically associate receiving AV device channels of receiving AV devices within an output zone. The processor assigns parameters of the associated AV devices to a control interface for user control thereof. To do so, the processor identifies controllable parameters associated with the AV devices associated with the output zone.

  • Patent number: 8930452
Abstract: Methods and systems for automatically interfacing with Internet-based social networks for safely providing friends of a mobile user with location updates. In particular, a system and method are provided for automatically posting user-location information to a social network. A system interface receives user data including a location update activation indicator and location update conditions. A navigation engine obtains information associated with the current location of the mobile user. A social network client module of the system is configured to determine that the location activation indicator is active and to determine that a location update condition is met. A communications interface automatically posts a location update to the social network if the social network client determines that at least one location update condition is met.
