Patent number: 7501930Abstract: A control system is for a lock of a door movably disposed within a frame and having a latch engageable with the frame, an interior handle connected with the latch and an exterior handle connectable with the latch. A connective mechanism is configured to releasably connect the exterior handle with the latch and an input device is configured to generate an unlock signal. A controller is coupled with the input device and configured to operate the connective mechanism such that the mechanism connects the exterior handle with the latch. The controller is selectively operable in a standard mode where the controller operates the mechanism when the controller receives the unlock signal and a lockdown mode where the controller does not operate the mechanism when receiving the unlock signal. A lockdown-input device coupled with the controller is configured to generate a lockdown signal to switch the controller to the lockdown mode.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 2005Date of Patent: March 10, 2009Assignee: Harrow Products, Inc.Inventors: Michael Cote, George Frolov, Gary E. Publication number: 20060150694Abstract: A shield device is for fastener(s) of a lock assembly that is adjustable between inoperable and operable states, each fastener including a head and being removably engageable with a door to connect the lock assembly therewith. The shield device includes a barrier displaceable between a first position, where the barrier covers the fastener head to prevent removal of the fastener, and a second position where the fastener is accessible to permit removal. The barrier is disposed in the first position when the lock is in the inoperable state and in the second position when the lock is in the operable state. Preferably, the lock assembly includes a member that adjusts the lock assembly between the operable and inoperable states and the barrier is coupled with the member. As such, when the lock member adjusts the lock assembly between the two states, the barrier displaces between the first and second positions.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 6, 2006Publication date: July 13, 2006Applicant: Harrow Products, Inc.Inventors: George Frolov, Vu Nguyen

Patent number: 7065323Abstract: In an access control system, a method and system for dynamic channel selection to select a channel for communication between a Wireless Access Point Module (WAPM) and a Wireless Panel Interface Module (WPIM). A number of communication channels are available. The WAPM attempts to communicate over a first channel and selects a second channel if the first channel is unsuccessful. The WPIM scans all the available channels so that communication may be established regardless of the channel chosen by the system. Alternatively, the available channels may be segmented into groups and an individual WAPM may be assigned to a group of channels rather than a single channel.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2002Date of Patent: June 20, 2006Assignee: Harrow Products, Inc.Inventors: Ronald Taylor, Eric V. Patent number: 7019614Abstract: A door security system for a door having an electrically actuated lock. The lock is controlled by a lock controller having an audit trail memory. An entry code reader transmits entered access codes to the controller. The controller compares the entered access code to prestored access codes and actuates the lock in response to the comparison. The controller stores the entered access code and a time stamp in the audit trail memory.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2002Date of Patent: March 28, 2006Assignee: Harrow Products, Inc.Inventors: Gary E. Patent number: 7007526Abstract: An electronic clutch assembly is for a lock system having a latch and first and second rotatable spindles, one being connected with the latch. A clutch is coupled with the first spindle, has a connective portion engageable with the second spindle, and is linearly displaceable along a first axis between a first position, where the connective portion is nonengaged with the second spindle and a second position where the connective portion is engaged with the second spindle. A cam is displaceable generally along a second axis extending generally perpendicularly with respect to the first axis and is configured to linearly displace the clutch between the two clutch positions. An electric actuator is operatively connected with the cam and configured to linearly displace the cam along the second axis such that the clutch alternatively couples the second spindle with the first spindle and uncouples the second spindle from the first spindle.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2003Date of Patent: March 7, 2006Assignee: Harrow Products, Inc.Inventors: George Frolov, Vu D. Patent number: 6715225Abstract: An illuminated exit bar incorporates a light source within the elongated space defined between a door-mounted housing and a push bar. The push bar defines an elongated opening for light generated within the exit bar. An exit plate covers the push bar opening and defines light transmissive openings in the form of exit instructions. An exit insert of light transmissive material is configured to be complementary to the exit plate. Light is gathered from within the exit plate and conducted to the push face of the exit bar to provide illuminated words and/or symbolic instructions for egress. The illuminated light bar is configurable for installation on left or right hand opening doors by electrically altering the pattern of internal illumination and assembling some parts in alternative configurations. The illuminated exit bar is compatible with electronic building security systems. The pattern of illuminated instructions can be remotely altered to reflect changed security conditions.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 2001Date of Patent: April 6, 2004Assignee: Harrow Products, IncInventors: George Frolov, Alfred S. Patent number: 6565130Abstract: An exit bar employs a dual action latch retractor comprising a slotted link which connects manual and electrically actuated latch retraction means. The slot permits the latch to be retracted by a solenoid latch retractor regardless of the position of the push bar or other manual latch retraction means. A buffer spring transmits energy from the solenoid latch retractor to the push pad so that under normal circumstances actuation of the solenoid latch retractor retracts both the latch and push pad. However, if the push pad is jammed in the projected position, the buffer spring is compressed to permit relative movement between the solenoid latch retractor and the manual latch retraction mechanism. As soon as the force holding the push pad in an extended position is removed, the energy stored in the buffer spring is applied to the push pad through the mechanical linkage to retract the push pad.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2001Date of Patent: May 20, 2003Assignee: Harrow Products, Inc.Inventor: John E. Patent number: 6543264Abstract: A lock mechanism has a housing and a latch extending from the housing. The latch has an extended position and a retracted position. The mechanism includes apparatus for biasing the latch to the extended position, apparatus for defining a locked mode and an unlocked mode, and apparatus including a clutch for transferring an operator input motion to move the latch to the retracted position in the unlocked mode. The clutch includes a cam surface and a cam follower. A spring biases the cam follower toward the cam surface and a second override spring which biases the cam follower to compensate for any off-center relationship due to wear, excessive force and/or assembly misalignment and to prevent jamming.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2001Date of Patent: April 8, 2003Assignee: Harrow Products, Inc.Inventor: George Frolov

Patent number: 6390514Abstract: A latch assembly comprising a latch frame mounted to a door. A latch bolt is mounted to the latch frame for pivotal movement between a biased position extended position and a retracted position. The latch bolt includes a tip portion with opposing planar locking and shaped engagement surfaces. A link is pivotally mounted to the frame for movement between a biased blocking position and a release position. In the blocking position the link prevents movement of the latch bolt from the extended position. A push bar pivots the link to the release position in response to an applied force. A frame bolt is mounted to a door frame for linear displacement between a position projecting from the door frame and a position displaced toward the door frame. The frame bolt includes opposing engagement and planar locking surfaces. When the door is closed the planar locking surfaces are in opposing surface-to-surface contact securing the door to the frame.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 1999Date of Patent: May 21, 2002Assignee: Harrow Products, Inc.Inventor: George Frolov
