    Abstract: A batting tee can include a mesh cup. The mesh cup is sufficiently rigid to support a ball but also easily deflects to minimize the impact when the batter strikes the tee. This ability to deflect also prolongs the life of the cup. The batting tee may be in the form of a complete batting tee or may be a component that can be used as a replacement for the cup of an existing batting tee. A set of balls of differing weights may also be provided with the batting tee.
