  • Patent number: 4823241
Abstract: A portable lamp unit having adhesive strips for mounting upon the interior surface of a hatch back automobile window. A mercury switch permits the lamp to be lit only when the hatch back lid is open. A solar cell aligned with and receiving sunlight through the window charges the batteries. The lamp housing is swingably mounted and a detent enables the lamp to be retained in one of a number of different orientations to direct light to a selected region, and may be releasably locked in any one of a variety of positions to compensate for various open hatch angles to direct the focussed light rays upon the desired region of the storage space. A switch selectively opens the power loop to prevent unnecessary drainage of the batteries when the hatch back is opened for a long periods of time. A light transmissive adhesive may be utilized to mount the unit upon a window. Alternatively, a frame may be mounted to the window to snap fittingly releasably retain the lamp unit in position upon the hatch back window.

  • Patent number: 4389166
Abstract: A lightweight, miniaturized, portable air compressor of the reciprocating piston type. Drive is imparted to the reciprocating piston by means of an input shaft which rotates a belt crank to convert rotary motion to reciprocating motion. The compressor housing has an integral bracket for mounting a DC motor and gear train coupling the DC motor output to the compressor input shaft. A pair of one way valves regulate the intake of air prior to compression and the exiting of compressed air from the piston chamber for introduction therein to a flexible air hose. The compressor is secured within a recess provided in the tray portion of a housing comprised of hingedly connected lid and tray members. A large hollow recess is provided for storage of the elongated air hose and an elongated power cord.

  • Patent number: 4317107
Abstract: A detector for providing an audible indication of the vacuum condition for use in promoting the economic operation of a vehicle including a vacuum detector for detecting the magnitude of the vacuum condition in the manifold vacuum line of a vehicle to effect a switch closure which energizes an audible alarm. The vacuum detector comprises a piston reciprocally mounted within a piston chamber and movable responsive to changes in vacuum. A piston rod is arranged between combination switch and guide means for maintaining the axial alignment of the piston rod and for cooperating with conductive means arranged along the piston rod for establishing a conductive path for energizing the audible alarm when a predetermined vacuum condition is present. The contact design provides automatic silencing of the alarm when the engine is turned off or upon demand of engine power beyond a predetermined value. The small size allows for an out-of-sight dashboard mount without affecting operator recognition of the alarm.
