Abstract: An automatic telephone answering device is proposed wherein a specific signal such as a speed calling or paging signal which is prestored in an outgoing message tape and which follows a short outgoing message is reproduced to allow an unidentified third party to hear the specific signal and to leave a message with confidence and without hanging-up immediately when he makes a telephone call and realizes that the call has been received by the automatic telephone answering device. When he finishes recording his message on an incoming message tape and hangs up the telephone, the device automatically calls up the subscriber as the caller expected.
