Patent number: 4863124Abstract: A corner work center includes a mounting unit for a computer and like equipment which quickly attaches to two adjoining surfaces at the same height. The unit eliminates the need for an expensive and complex intermediate or third top and the requisite hardware. The unit includes an elevated plate mounted on the frame and a forward tray or bridging surface which is captured by the frame and extends forwardly of the frame at a lower elevation and bridges the included angle between the adjoining surfaces. The unit may also include an articulating arm assembly having a positionable keyboard tray which may be positioned beneath and forwardly of the forward tray. With the arm assembly the keyboard tray can be extended for use or retracted when not in use. The tray includes handles and adjustable bumpers. The system includes main beams on which are two enclosed wire raceways at substantially work surface height. Also included are stabilizer beams which may be attached at their inner ends to any point along the main beam between the legs. The outer ends of the stabilizer beams are connected to a relatively short transverse beam which includes height adjustable posts or legs at each end. The outer end of the stabilizer beam may optionally be connected to the center of the transverse beam or to either leg or to a leg alone to form a T, I or L-shape configuration. The stabilizer beam and transverse beam have the same configuration and may support work surfaces or other components. Patent number: 4815162Abstract: A door hinge assembly includes a frame and a door with top and bottom hinge pivot assemblies. The top hinge pivot assembly includes a plate fixed to the frame and thereabove a parallel vertically movable plate. The upper plate includes a downwardly projecting hinge pin which projects through a clearance hole in the fixed plate. The fixed plate also includes an upwardly extending guide pin which extends through a clearance hole in the upper plate. A screw extends through the fixed plate and is threaded into the upper plate. When the screw is loosened the upper plate and thus the hinge pin may be pushed up, or permitted to drop into place. By tightening the screw the hinge pin is locked in its extended position and the screw head is flush with the bottom of the fixed plate. Patent number: 4771583Abstract: An improved and more versatile space divider system for open office interiors includes as a major component a structure beam or spine supported at each end by vertically adjustable legs. Feet on the legs provide the required lateral stability to support or hang components such as work surfaces, filing systems and the like from the beam. Each beam includes two enclosed electrical ducts on the top thereof superjacent work surface height, such ducts being provided for power and communication wiring respectively, with the latter being above the former and laterally enlarged. The power wiring duct is prewired with outlets on both sides, while the communications wiring duct includes both lateral and top access. The legs have a smooth exterior surface yet permit beams to be connected thereto at a wide variety of angles. Patent number: 4768844Abstract: A locking system for a filing cabinet which permits only one drawer to be pulled out at a time includes a vertical track at the side of the cabinet in which move vertically extending bars, one for each drawer, against the pressure of a spring through a predetermined limited distance. When the cabinet is locked the bars are held against any movement. When the cabinet is unlocked, such movement is permitted. When one drawer is withdrawn, a two position cam on the respective bar is rotated 90.degree.. The cam is rotationally mounted on one bar but bears against a projecting shelf on the next adjacent bar or a fixed shelf. Patent number: 4759450Abstract: An assembly for supporting and storing paper, reference materials and other like items on a space divider and furniture system off of work surfaces includes paired hanging vertically extending brackets having one or more horizontally projecting cantilevered arms. Each bracket includes an upper hook and alternative forms of a lower foot which maintains the brackets vertical and the arms horizontal. The hook and feet are removably secured to the ends of the brackets and the alternative feet are employed depending on the height at which the assembly is mounted on the space divider system. The brackets may be mounted anywhere along the space divider system. The arms in turn support with a snap fit several forms or sizes of molded plastic trays which interconnect the paired brackets. The arms are circular in section and the edges of the tray are provided with downwardly turned circular edges which snap over the arms. Patent number: 4624083Abstract: A sound and visual partition screen panel utilizes a treated corrugated cardboard septum to which is secured a frame. Acoustic insulation pads are provided on each side of the septum within the frame. The frame is designed with rounded vertical and top edges which are adapted to receive a fabric covering in the form of a sewn sock or sleeve which includes seams with inwardly formed welts adapted to be threaded into recesses in the verticals which open to the edges of the panels through a very narrow slot. The top and bottom of each vertical is provided with a removable pin, the one on the bottom also adjustably supporting the panel, which pins in turn secure plastic blocks having semi-circular gear segments, the gear teeth projecting just beyond the rounded surface of the verticals. The gear teeth extend for only slightly less than one half the height of the semi-circular face of the block. Patent number: 4036542Abstract: A knock-down drawer construction held together by resilient clamps. A pair of front clamps, U-shaped in cross section, are fastened to the rear face of the drawer front by threaded fasteners, such as screws or bolts, and the sides of the drawer are inserted into the clamps. Longitudinal slots along the inside faces of the sides support the drawer bottom, and the drawer bottom is retained in position by the drawer back which is fastened to the sides by corner clamps. The clamps are retained in position by integrally formed tabs which are inserted in transverse grooves on the outer faces of the drawer sides. Clearance recesses along the front edges of the drawer sides are formed adjacent each threaded fastener so that the major portion of the front edges may abut the clamps.
