Abstract: The present disclosure is drawn to setting printer parameters. In one example, a method of setting printer parameters can include loading a print medium into a printer. The print medium can include a print surface and an identification code on the print surface, the identification code including multiple surface property discontinuities on the print surface, wherein the print surface is continuous at the multiple surface property discontinuities, and wherein the multiple surface property discontinuities are non-additive and are grouped together at a location on the print surface. The surface property discontinuities can be detected using a sensor integrated with the printer to read the identification code. An operating parameter of the printer can be selected based on the identification code.

Abstract: An audio amplifier is to transition between a power-down mode and an active mode, based on assertion and deassertion of a power down signal. A power down control module is to selectively assert and deassert the power down signal to the audio amplifier. The power down control module may identify at least one of a digital detection signal and an analog detection signal. The digital detection signal indicates the availability of a digital audio signal to be amplified, and the analog detection signal indicates the availability of an analog audio signal to be amplified.

  • Publication number: 20130054838
Abstract: A method and system for selecting a data compression technique for data transfer through a data network is provided. During call setup, information is gathered from the network infrastructure by receiving feedback from smart network devices, reviewing calls logs, or by accessing a network topology database, and the information can then be used to select a desired compression technique. During a call, a media terminating end device or a call control server will monitor call connection performance specific to the data transfer pathway used for the call connection, and may adjust the data compression to conform with the performance that the connection is providing at any given moment. Performance parameters such as delay, jitter, and compression ratios can be measured in real-time for a call to determine if a change in compression is deemed beneficial. In this manner, the compression method can be chosen based on real time network performance.
