Patents Assigned to Haynes Corporation
  • Publication number: 20180306154
Abstract: A method comprises determining either the coefficient for the equation relating the injection timing distance of a bushing to the angle of rotation of a shaft of an engine, or the desired effective injection stroke reduction; and calculating at least one of the following: the modified injection timing distance by multiplying the desired angle of retardation of the injection timing by the coefficient and adding that product to the original injection timing distance of the bushing, and the modified injection duration distance by subtracting the desired effective injection stroke reduction from the original injection duration distance.

  • Patent number: 8047181
Abstract: A device is disclosed for sensing the speed of an EMD 567/645/710 two-cycle diesel engine having a crankcase, electronic fuel injectors and an electronic control system for controlling the electronic fuel injectors. The device includes a spline shaft sized for insertion into the crankcase of the engine so that the spline shaft rotates with the engine, a gear operably secured to the spline shaft to rotate with the spline shaft and sized to rotate with the engine in a 1:1 ratio, and at least one electronic sensor located adjacent the gear to sense rotation of the gear. The at least one electronic sensor is connectable to the electronic control system to provide electronic signals to the electronic control system for determining when to inject fuel with the electronic fuel injectors. Also disclosed is a method for retrofitting the engine and a kit for retrofitting the engine.

  • Patent number: 7191766
Abstract: A modified pump follower device (2) and method of retarding injection timing of EMD-type unit injectors by a desired amount of crank degrees includes the steps of providing a modified pump follower (2) whose plunger engagement location, also known as t-slot (7), varies depending on the desired amount of retarding. Specifically, the modified pump follower (2) has a t-slot (7) which has a predetermined distance t? on the modified pump follower (2), as compared to conventional pump followers having a predetermined distance t, such that the t-slot (14) is closer to the top face (9) of the pump follower (2). The difference in spacing between the original timing t and the retarded timing t? is r, which is an amount equal to the amount of retardation, in linear units, that corresponds to the desired amount of retardation in crank degrees.

  • Patent number: 7124966
Abstract: A high pressure unit fuel injector includes a member with a fuel delivery opening to be intermittently supplied with high pressure fuel and a valve seat encircling the fuel delivery opening. A valve cage includes a check-valve chamber adjacent the valve seat. The chamber includes an annular ledge facing the valve seat and an inwardly facing wall surrounding the ledge. A disk is located within the chamber and has opposite first and second faces alternately seatable against the valve seat and the ledge respectively. The disk has a plurality of openings between the first and second faces and a circular-shaped groove formed in the first face about a center of the disk. The groove intersects the plurality of openings.
