Patents Assigned to Hazleton Environmental
  • Patent number: 5314622
Abstract: Dual purpose apparatus and process for increasing the efficiency of absorption of oxygen by a biodegradable waste in a continuous operation in a waste collection station and for removing the oxygen enriched waste from the collection station by separately introducing waste and oxygen, which may be air, into a collector under a highly agitated state, and agitating the air and waste under pressure in a collector by a partially recessed vortex type impeller as back pressure is provided to the collector either by a nozzle means or an outlet means. The collector is mis-matched relative to the impeller to increase the retention and mixing time of the air and waste in the collector.

  • Patent number: 5131757
Abstract: Mixing apparatus comprising a pair of detachable, spaced rings,--one having inlet passages skewed in a direction to cause clockwise rotation of the exiting fluid, and the other skewed in an opposite direction to cause counter-clockwise rotation thereof, to cause shear action and intense mixing of fluid therebetween. Pairs of mixers may be arranged in different relative positions in either an open or closed body of liquid to effect mixing of effluent therein.

  • Patent number: 4954147
Abstract: A water conditioning apparatus and method wherein raw water is supplied to a plurality of axially aligned stripping chambers to form a cove shaped sheet within said stripping chambers and to cause an aspiration of air in each of the stripping chambers. Alternating high and low pressure zones are formed in the stripping chambers to enhance the air stripping of the water. The water is discharged through an outlet nozzle where the water sprays against the side wall of the nozzle to cause the water droplets to coalesce.

  • Patent number: 4818392
Abstract: A method of treating and progressively densifying liquid waste. It comprises thoroughly mixing and aerating by a continuous mixer and/or aerating raw water and chemical treating materials, discharging the resulting mixture downwardly into a reaction compartment, thence drawing the resulting material upwardly by means of an impeller and gravity flow, then allowing a portion of the resulting denser sludge to descend downwardly by gravity into a floc tunnel, thence in a horizontal portion, further densifying and separating takes place. The remaining portion is directed horizontally against inclined, closely spaced parallel plates to clear the resulting fines mixture. Thereafter, there is still further densifying of the sludge. By this method, a very dense sludge is obtained in a relatively small space.
