Abstract: A mobile home care logistics and quality assurance system to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, accountability, and overall level of care for nurses visiting patients in their home. The system has a patient home health communication interface to establish a communication between a patient and a central server to receive instructions from and to transmit collected data/information to a remote server. The remote server generates various reports including a home visit prioritization report and a routing report based on the collected and stored data. The information and reports are used for billing, performance reviews, and patient data for assessment of each homecare nurse's in-field assignments.

Abstract: A remote health monitoring system, comprising a device suitable for transmitting and receiving data and configured for determining a geographic location of the device, a communication network and a server. The device is suitable for communicating with the server via the communication network, and a visitation schedule of a healthcare provider is determined based upon health related information of a patient and the geographic location of the device.

Abstract: The embodiments provide systems and methods for medical device rights and recall management system. A digital IP rights and recall management device activates a central key server to authenticate software contents and services operated on a microprocessor based medical devices through a coding key that may be embedded in a medical device or in a service provider server or in an end user computer. The recall management server unlocks the software content transmitted from or to a value-added service provider and selectively recall the value-added software component without requiring any physical recall of the medical device. The system maintains a virtual device master record which enables quality control and recall capability for software elements independent of any physical hardware recall.

Abstract: A system, apparatus, and method for motion monitoring. In an embodiment, a plurality of self-powered active Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) transmitters are each configured to intermittently transmit radio frequency pulse at a rate proportional to motion, containing identification information. The pulse produced by each of the RFID transmitters are received and analyzed at a receiver. The analysis results in the identification of pattern of activity, which is used to produce meaningful data regarding the motion of a user. The RFID transmitters may be provided on a wearable tag.

Abstract: A system and method is described that enables a health care provider to monitor and manage a health condition of a patient. The system includes a health care provider apparatus operated by a health care provider and a remotely programmable patient apparatus that is operated by a patient. The health care provider develops a script program using the health care provider apparatus and then sends the script program to a remotely programmable patient apparatus through a communication network such as the World Wide Web. The script program is a computer-executable patient protocol that provides information to the patient about the patient's health condition and that interactively monitors the patient health condition by asking the patient questions and by receiving answers to those questions. The answers to these health related questions are then forwarded as patient data from the remotely programmable patient apparatus to the health care provider apparatus through the communication network.

Abstract: A programmable interactive device in which a microprocessor is coupled to memory and two speech synthesis processor. The device is connected through a wireless communication system to a remote server to receive scripts and corresponding digital data provided by third party content providers and other users. Software is executed to select digital data and the script based on received identification data and status data from an adjacent device. A code of instructions is executed on the microprocessor to activate a speech synthesizer to convert digital data into audio data, which is output through a speaker. Also, an interactive environment for a pair of talking devices is provided.

Abstract: A self-governing medical peer rating system for evaluating and rating health management content includes a subject matter expert (SME) registration module that accepts a subscription from an SME to an application for contribution of content by entering credentials of the SME into the medical peer rating system, a SME verification module that verifies a profile of the SME created by the SME, a SME approval module that approves the SME as a verified SME based on at least one of a positive feedback, a negative feedback, and a neutral feedback from a group of verified SMEs, a community member, and a member of an editorial board. A content creator module that creates the content contributed by the SME. A content approval module that approves the content upon the content being discussed or reviewed by any of the verified SMEs, the community member, and the member of the editorial board.

Abstract: A system for remotely monitoring an individual. The system includes a server system for generating a script program from a set of queries. The script program is executable by a remote apparatus that displays information and/or a set of queries to the individual through a user interface. Responses to the queries that are entered through the user interface together with individual identification information are sent from the remote apparatus to the server system across a communication network. The server system also includes an automated answering service for providing a series of questions from a stored set of questions for an individual at the remote apparatus to respond to, storing responses to each provided question in the series of questions and providing a service based on the individual's response to the questions.

Abstract: On-line health education includes displaying composites of personalized health content and patient-selected entertainment. Suitable sources of entertainment include generally available web pages and television programs. Composites are spatial (for page displays) or temporal (for image sequence displays). Health content is customized to health and personal situations of individual patients, and replaces advertisements. Composites are generated on a central server in communication with an entertainment server and a health server. Amenable diseases or behaviors include diabetes, asthma, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, eating disorders, HIV, mental health disorders, smoking, and alcohol and drug abuse.

Abstract: A system, apparatus and method for simultaneously managing health of different individuals and pets over a network are provided. The present invention provides a strategy to motivate an individual to exercise. In one embodiment of the invention, the pet is being used as a means of monitoring the pet-owner's compliance with the exercise regimen. A healthcare provider is provided for transmitting health and physical exercise related scripted content into communication devices of the individuals and the pets. Data related to physical activities of the pets and the individuals are collected and are sent to the remote server. The healthcare provider linked with the remote server is accessed by physicians and the veterinarians for analyzing the data related to the physical activities and providing feedback messages accordingly.

Abstract: A diabetes management system for predicting a future blood glucose value of a patient and for recommending a corrective action to the patient when the future blood glucose value lies outside of a target range. The system includes a patient-operated apparatus for measuring blood glucose values and for storing data relating to insulin doses administered to the patient. The apparatus predicts the patient's future blood glucose value based upon the patient's current blood glucose value, the fraction of insulin action remaining from the insulin doses, and the patient's insulin sensitivity. The apparatus also determines the corrective action for the patient when the predicted blood glucose value lies outside of a target range. The system also includes a physician computer in communication with the apparatus for receiving the blood glucose values and insulin dose data and for calculating an adjusted insulin sensitivity for use in subsequent predictions.
