Abstract: An improved cap is provided for selectively sealing a tube, such as a drain tube, of a suction bag used in medical/surgical suction equipment. The cap is preferably a generally hollow truncated cone, closed at one end and open at the other end to receive the tube. The inner structure of the cap generally defines two chambers. A first chamber has an inside diameter slightly larger than that of the tube. A plurality of axially oriented ribs are disposed on the inside surface of the first chamber to engage in sliding contact with the tube. A raised portion on at least one of the ribs acts as an intermediate stop which defines a first operative position of the cap. In this first operative position, air can pass through the channels defined by the inside of the first chamber wall, the ribs, and the tube. A second chamber has an inside diameter approximately equal to or slightly smaller than that of the tube.
Abstract: Equipment for medical or surgical uses is provided for purposes, for example, of withdrawing or draining body liquids from cavities tending to accumulate such liquids, for instance as a result of wounds, surgical procedures or of pathological conditions in the body. The equipment comprises a vacuum chamber adapted to receive a disposable collection bag and control systems are provided for regulating the vacuum in the chamber and thus the suction in the collection bag. The chamber also has a wall structure and a door cooperating to provide a closed but openable vacuum compartment adapted to receive the disposable collection bag. The bag has a liquid inlet tube and the wall structure and door have portions cooperating to form a channel therebetween for receiving the inlet tube, and the inlet tube carries a sealing device insertable into and removable from said channel in a direction transversely of the tube when the door is open.
Abstract: A data plotter for use in a multi-channel chart recorder operable to record time-variant analog scalar components of vector data signals on a moving recording medium. The data plotter comprises stationary printing means, preferably a thermal print head, for plotting vectors and other data derived from sampled scalar components as an aid in the interpretation of their analog traces.
