    Abstract: An erosion control mat having buoyant fronds is deployed in a body of water to enhance the accumulation of sediments. The mat includes a plurality of frond lines arranged in a fanfold pattern. Each frond line include a continuous elongate strip and a plurality of side-by-side buoyant fronds (strands). The frond lines are made of linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE), preferably metallocene catalyzed LLDPE.
