Abstract: A method for driving a satellite offset press, and a satellite offset press which, with little expenditure, permits multicolor printing in one pass. A satellite offset press, in which form cylinders and associated transfer cylinders are driven synchronously, while in each case segments located in the circumferential direction of the form cylinders and of the transfer cylinders and also of the transfer cylinders and of an impression cylinder interacting with the latter roll on one another in accurate register with a sheet held thereon, following each full revolution. The speed of the impression cylinder is reduced and increased again, so that the transfer cylinders lead by at least one segment length in the circumferential direction.
Abstract: A device for the assembly of brochures from folded sheets includes a continuous conveyor which defines a direction of conveyance, feeders which deliver the folded sheets to the continuous conveyor, and controls for controlling the operation of the feeders and the continuous conveyor. In order to avoid waste and operational malfunctions, the controls provide the feeders located downstream from a first feeder with a law of motion which is dependent on the format of the folded sheets.
Abstract: An apparatus for conveying sheets from a printing machine to a stack has highly rigid gripper bars that can be produced with relatively little expense, and the gripper assembly permits great flexibility in the use of the apparatus. The apparatus has at least one gripper bar carrying one or more grippers which, during the conveyance, holds a sheet at its edge between a gripper finger and a gripper pad. Endless chains move the gripper bar on a path between a cylinder belonging to the machine and the stack. An actuating mechanism opens and closes the gripper as a sheet is picked up from the cylinder and as it is allowed to fall onto the stack. In the opened state, the gripper finger is located below a path described by the upper edge of the gripper pad.

Abstract: A method of determining a printing color profile for printing with N printing inks, which form a color solid of the printable inks in a device-independent color system, includes the steps of selecting one or more printing inks, and defining an inner reference curve in the device-independent color system. The inner reference curve is preferably selected such that it lies in the vicinity of the neutral colors. Using first test forms, which are printed and measured calorimetrically, boundary surfaces between the inner reference curve and the outer envelope of the color solid are defined, which subdivide the color solid into color sectors. With second test forms for the color sectors, a projection of the color sectors in the device-independent color system is determined and, from this, the printing color profile is determined.
Abstract: Methods for performing a roller adjustment in a printing press include an axial spacing adjustment and an oblique position adjustment. The oblique position adjustment is carried out along a straight line of movement which extends perpendicularly relative either to another straight line of movement of the axial spacing adjustment or to a tangential line of a pivoting circular arc of the axial spacing adjustment.

Also included are gripper carriages fixed to revolving chains, for gripping the sheet at a leading edge thereof and for then pulling the sheet intermittently through the stripping station and further stations in the machine. The stripping plate has, in an inlet region for the sheet and before stripping openings, at least one suction opening to which vacuum is applicable from below.
Abstract: An apparatus for transporting flat work pieces has a first conveyor and a second conveyor. An inlet mouth is formed from the first conveyor and the second conveyor. The apparatus is distinguished by a geometry of the inlet mouth which can be optimized with regard to different, jointly assumed pivoting positions of the conveyors.
Abstract: A sheet-processing machine, particularly a rotary printing press, includes a blast-air supply system and a pneumatic sheet-guiding device connected thereto. The sheet-guiding device has a sheet-guiding surface formed with air passage openings and serves for having the sheets dragged thereover in a sheet travel direction. The air passage openings serve for expelling sheet-carrying air flows during operation. The sheet-guiding device further includes flow ducts for aligning sheet-carrying air flows. The air passage openings in the sheet guiding surface form opening cross-sections of the flow ducts in the form of slots having a length which is many times greater than the width thereof.

Abstract: A method for controlling a program run of a central data processor includes the step of starting a master program by an operating system. In accordance with given data, the master program starts a number of programs in a given sequence. The master program also checks the correct functioning of the start and initialization phase of the programs and the correct functioning of the programs after the start and initialization phase. If an error function is recognized, the master program initiates a reaction function. For example, a reaction function is when a following program is not started, when the previous program has not completed the start and initialization phase correctly. A printing press and a storage medium are also provided.
Abstract: A cleaning member is pivotally fixed to a support member to clean ink-jet print heads that are positioned on a print-head receptor module. The cleaning member pivots from a cleaning position to an idle position and the print-head receptor module is pivotally fixed to a support member to allow the module to pivot from a printing position to a cleaning position. The pivotal supports are positioned such that, when the module and the cleaning member are each in their respective cleaning positions, the cleaning member is positioned to clean ink jets inserted into the receptors.

Abstract: Devices for turning sheets in a rotary printing machine are described. The devices have a storage drum for handling sheets, which are each held by a holding device, and a turning drum is disposed downstream of the storage drum and has a holding device for engaging a rear edge of the sheet to be turned. An operation of detaching the sheet to be turned from the storage drum and carrying it along by the turning drum leads to the formation of a pressure reduction in an area formed between the sheet to be turned, the storage drum and the turning drum. The pressure reduction is compensated for by supplying ambient air, blast air and/or compressed air. The turning device has a channel and/or a passage orifice connected to an inner chamber of the turning drum. Via the channel and/or passage orifice air can be sucked and/or blown into the reduced-pressure area.
Abstract: An apparatus for forming stacks of flat workpieces and for banding or banderoling the stacks includes a stacking station, a banding or banderoling station, and an endless conveyor for cyclically conveying stacking shafts provided to the endless conveyor. A respective first band guide is formed on a respective one of the stacking shafts and a second band guide is disposed in the banding station. The second band guide together with the respective first band guide form an at least approximately intrinsically closed guide path.
