  • Patent number: 9566816
Abstract: A method for printing on an object, for instance on an object made of a foamed material, includes applying ink to a surface of the object in accordance with digital image information in an inkjet printing process and irradiating the ink by electromagnetic radiation, preferably containing an IR proportion, to cure or dry the ink. The ink is directly heated by the irradiation and the material of the surface is indirectly heated by the irradiation by thermal conduction from the ink, causing the material in a region to experience a volume change. In this way, it is possible to simultaneously print on the material and to provide the material with a relief structure/to digitally emboss it.

  • Patent number: 9555618
Abstract: A method sets the inking in a printing press with multiple ink zones in an inking unit of a printing unit. The method includes: printing a test form onto a printing substrate with an intentional pre-defined color deviation from the intended target color; correcting the previously set ink setting and the defined set color deviation with regard to the respective target value in the wet condition of the printing substrate by a color measuring device; and taking color measurements of the dried printing substrate using the color measuring device. The measured color values established in the dry state and the original of the test form in a computer are compared. The ink setting that belongs to the ink zone with the smallest deviation from the intended target color is used as the target ink setting for the printing process.

  • Patent number: 9471858
Abstract: A method controls the coloring of a printing press. In the method a test element is printed with a number of colored measuring areas. The printed colored measuring areas of the test element are then measured. Actual colorimetric values are calculated from the measured color values and then displayed. Reference colorimetric values are entered and adapted spectral color values are calculated. Densitometric, colorimetric, or spectral actual tonal values or actual tonal value gains are determined from the calculated actual colorimetric values of a subset of the colored areas of the test element. The densitometric, colorimetric or spectral reference tonal values or the reference tonal value gains are entered and adapted spectral color values are calculated by a comparison with the calculated actual colorimetric values. The adapted spectral color values for the calculation of color profiles, process calibrations and process control values are stored and the printing press is activated.
