  • Patent number: 6159360
Abstract: A solids dryer is post-connected to an invertible filter centrifuge, wherein a dehumidification and drying of the solids takes place in the invertible filter centrifuge by means of centrifugation, pressure gas compression and/or heat convection and in the solids dryer by means of heat contact and/or heat convection. The invertible filter centrifuge and the solids dryer are connected to one another to form a unit via a closure device. Sensors serve to measure the respectively prevailing degree of dehumidification and drying as well as to determine additional operating parameters. The sensors actuate a common control device which regulates the operating parameters.

  • Patent number: 5665925
Abstract: A device for performing a weight measurement in centrifuges which serve to process chemical substances of different weights and in which fluctuating gas pressures cause different interfering forces which have an interfering effect on the weight measurement. The centrifuge is mounted so as to swivel in a vertical plane, a force measuring element senses the weight-dependent swivel movements of the machine, and a compensation means equalizes the interfering forces caused by the fluctuating gas pressures such that the weight measurement remains unaffected hereby. The compensation means comprises a sensor sensing the gas pressure in the centrifuge, this sensor correspondingly correcting a weight display as a function of changes sensed in the gas pressure.

  • Patent number: 5421997
Abstract: A sleeve filter centrifuge comprises between the closed end wall of a centrifugal drum and a base portion movable relative to this end wall a flexible, extendible dividing wall, for example in the form of a bellows or a folded membrane. This dividing wall provides a seal between a displacing shaft bearing the base portion and the inner chamber of the centrifugal drum accommodating the suspension and prevents any exchange of substances, which, for example, impairs sterilization, between the process area of the centrifugal drum and the machine frame side of the sleeve filter centrifuge.

  • Patent number: 5277804
Abstract: A sleeve filter centrifuge comprises a drum with radial filtrate passages (12) which is rotatably mounted in a housing (1), a sleeve filter cloth (15) which covers the filtrate passages, a lid (18) which closes the front of the drum and has a filling opening for suspensions to be filtered, and a filling pipe (19) which penetrates the filling opening. In order to turn up the filter cloth, the drum and the lid can be displaced axially relative to each other by means of a hollow shaft (3) driven in rotation and a support shaft (9) which telescopes in and out of said hollow shaft. A threaded spindle (34) is arranged on the support shaft (9) and a nut (33,36) is engaged with the threaded spindle (34). Either the threaded spindle (34) or the nut (33,36) can be driven in rotation by a motor (44) in such a manner that the support shaft (9) telescopes in and out of the hollow shaft (3) in function of the rotational speed of the threaded spindle (34) or nut relative to the rotational speed of the hollow shaft (3).

  • Patent number: 5258128
Abstract: A method for removing filter cake from a pressure filter element for liquid solid mixtures comprising an outer casing, a removable lid for closing the outer casing, a tubular filter element which projects from the lid into the outer casing and on the outside of which the filter cake is deposited, a membrane which during operation folds back between the outer casing and the filter element, a pressure joint on the outer casing and inlet and outlet of a pressure medium, an inlet line which conveys the liquid-solid mixture into the space between the membrane and the filter element and an outlet line which conveys the filtrate from the interior of the filter element. In order to split off small pieces of the filter cake from the filter element, a gaseous pressure medium is admitted into the filter cake formed on the outside of the filter element for as long as the filter cake is still completely or partly surrounded by the fold back membrane.

  • Patent number: 5139665
Abstract: A pressure filter for suspensions comprises a boiler-shaped outer jacket, a lid coaxially movable relative to the latter and closing the outer jacket, a filter element protruding from the lid and a reversible membrane arranged coaxially between the outer jacket and the filter element so as to turn out of the outer jacket when the filter is opened and to turn back into the outer jacket again when the filter is closed. When the filter is being closed, a negative pressure relative to ambient pressure is generated inside the membrane, and to prevent formation of a single fold protruding at the sides beyond the rim of the outer jacket, the membrane is deformed by external influences until a triple or multiple fold no longer protruding at the sides beyond the rim of the outer jacket forms in the membrane.

  • Patent number: 4193874
Abstract: A filter centrifuge for the separation of solid and liquid components in a suspension in which a filter cloth is used. The filter cloth is inserted in the drum of the centrifuge and is removably fastened at one side about the periphery of an aperture in the drum. The filter cloth is flexible and may be turned inside out to discharge solid materials after the centrifuging operation. To prevent the flexible filter cloth from becoming pressed into the openings of the centrifuge drum by the force of the centrifuging process and the weight of the solid material, a supporting screen is inserted between the inner wall and the drum of the filter cloth. The screen is in the form of longitudinal rods from which the filter cloth is easily removed even if the gaps between the rods are penetrated to a slight extent.
