Patent number: 8602689Abstract: A reusable nose cone device (and related retrieval apparatus) in a hollow helical piling system having a terminal helical anchor are described. The method and system include placing or installing either (i) reinforced concrete piles in situ and/or (ii) grounding systems into the ground—without utilizing a pile driver or an auger, without deconsolidating the surrounding earth and creating spoils (as with an auger), and without unnecessary sacrifice of materials. A terminal helical anchor may be installed through the hollow center of the helical piling system into the ground. The helical anchor may be installed after the removal of the nose cone device. With the system and method, independent and accurate measurement of the anchor's torque may be made and hence complementary “load” bearing, or compression, (or “pull” resisting, or tensioning) capacity may be determined prior to filling the entire pile with reinforced wet concrete.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 2011Date of Patent: December 10, 2013Assignee: Heli-Crete “Eco-Friendly” Piling Systems, LLCInventors: Kenneth Van Polen, George E. Patent number: 7204049Abstract: An emergency drop system allows ballasted advertising banner (14) if disconnected from an aircraft to descend slowly to the ground. Banner (14) is suspended below an aircraft by line (4) held taut by ballasted container (24). Static line (26) attached to the aircraft will, on release of loop (6) of line (4) from the aircraft, pull on closures (12) and release parachute (8) from its container (10). Drag of parachute (8) in the slipstream will slow the fall of banner (14) and also pull on lanyard (20) so that it activates 3-ring release (22) causing container (24) to invert and disperse the ballast.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 2001Date of Patent: April 17, 2007Assignee: Heli-Banners LimitedInventor: Sean Patrick Herbert

Patent number: 5423237Abstract: A machine tool having torsional compensation for the machine tool support. Generally, a machine tool head is movably mounted on a cross member in such a way that it induces a torsional couple in the cross member. A mechanism is provided for inducing a torsional couple in the cross member which is substantially opposite to that produced by the supporting of the machine head. In one embodiment this mechanism is a tube which has one end rigidly interconnected with the cross member and another end which is movable relative to the cross member. A torsional force may be induced within the tube by movement of the second end relative to the cross rail and at least a portion of this torsional force is thereby transmitted to the cross member by the rigid interconnection of the first end of the tube with the cross member.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 1993Date of Patent: June 13, 1995Assignee: HelisInventor: Henri Line
