  • Patent number: 5182460
Abstract: In a method and apparatus to regulate the illumination range of a motor vehicle in which, at a position on a front axle and at a position on a rear axle, signals are measured which are dependent upon the relative positions of a motor-vehicle body to the front axle and the rear axle, with a difference formation between the signal from the front axle and that of the rear axle being accomplished with a resulting difference signal, as a nominal-value signal, being filtered to a first average-value formation. The time for the first average-value formation is determined by a first filter (F1) time constant with positions of adjusting elements being regulated when the first filtered nominal-value deviates from a predetermined, or set, value.

  • Patent number: 5140226
Abstract: A flashing warning light assembly of a type including a voltage source (s), a transformer gate (W), first and second storage condensers (C1 and C2), flash tube (B), an ignition circuit (T, Z), and an electrical switch (T1) in series with the first storage condenser which is controllable electrically. A monitoring circuit (R1, R2, V1) is further included which senses the charge voltage of the first storage condenser and compares it with a reference voltage, opening the electrical switch when the charge voltage exceeds the reference voltage. The apparatus of this invention provides a flashing warning light assembly which is easily and cost-effectively producible and which, while reliably igniting the flash tube, makes possible the influencing of energy or light intensity of produced light flashes.

  • Patent number: 5136482
Abstract: First and second reflectors are mounted in a housing covered by a light transmissive shield. The first reflector reflects substantially parallel light beams in a light exiting direction from its bulb while the second reflector is somewhat elliptically shaped and is built as a fixed optical unit with a frame which holds a collecting lens in a light beam path and a blinder, or light-blocking shield, between the second reflector and collecting lens approximately at a focus point of the collecting lens. A separate supporting member is fastened to an outer framing portion of the second reflector and has a portion extending to an apex area of the first reflector. This portion is both a receiving element for the bulb of the first reflector and a mounting element of the first reflector. Further, the separate supporting member is attached to the housing to be adjustable about at least one axis.

  • Patent number: 5132882
Abstract: An auxiliary brake lamp for motor vehicles comprises a holder which includes a track (7) which has a double-T-shape in cross section and which is adherable to a rear window. A lamp housing (2) is engagingly shoved onto the holder. A holding spring (5) arranged in the lamp housing clamps a first flange of the double-T-track between it and the housing. An electrical coupling of the lamp to a vehicle power supply is provided by a flat plug engagement device (12). That is, the double-T-track is electrically coupled with a current source of the motor vehicle and the holding spring is electrically coupled with a light bulb (17) of the lamp. A contact plate formed as a flat lug (11) as part of the first flange of the double-T-track produces a conductive coupling between the lamp and the holder by sliding contact on the holding spring.

  • Patent number: 5074266
Abstract: A throttle-valve apparatus involves a throttle valve (D) mounted on a shaft (W) which is coupled to a cable line (S) for rotating the shaft. The apparatus includes a first engaging detent, or stop, mechanism, (A1) having a movable engagement point between the cable line and the shaft, a first coupling apparatus (K1) between the cable line and the shaft, and a positioning motor (M) which creates a throttle-valve apparatus whose operation, in a particular uncomplicated and cost effective manner, increases safety and dependability during operation of a motor vehicle. When the positioning motor is driven to drive the throttle valve it is relieved from overcoming a return force of a spring by the first coupling apparatus which includes a first coupling having a changeable or cancellable driving linkage whereby a driving engagement of the linkage is greatest in an immediate area of the movable engagement point of the detent mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5065288
Abstract: A headlight has a parabolic shaped reflector (8) with an incandescent lamp whose filament (13) is defocussed, or approximately at a focus point for distribution, by the reflector. A light-transmissive shield (4) has upper and lower zones (1 and 2) with prism-like optical devices (5 and 6) thereon which are respectively positioned above and below a horizontal middle plane of the reflector. Both zones are bordered by a vertical middle plane of the headlight. The upper zone extends to an oncoming traffic side while the lower zone extends to the other side and its upper edge is approximately bordered by the horizontal middle portion of the reflector. In this connection, the prism-like optical devices are arranged so that light beams passing therethrough are diverted to a partial area (100, 200) of a light figure of the headlight which, on a driving side, is at a higher level than on the oncoming traffic side.
