  • Patent number: 4478528
Abstract: A wire matrix print head assembly in which the print wires are operably supported in one-piece bearing and guide passage block member in an elongated wire housing with wire actuating armature members arranged in a circular array between radially innermost and outermost poles of electromagnetic armature actuating devices and an armature retaining cover member centrally adjustably connected to the wire housing and having armature confining slots holding the armatures in pivotally displaceable operable association with the poles, the armatures being pivotally supported on the radially outermost edge surfaces of the outermost poles with or without resilient biasing devices continuously holding the armatures in engagement with the pole pivot surfaces without applying a moment of force and peripheral portions of the cover member being mounted in rigid abutting engagement with end surfaces of the outermost poles.

  • Patent number: 4230038
Abstract: A wire matrix print head assembly in which armatures are mounted between pairs of magnetic pole members and wire printing members with coplanar radially spaced pole member end surfaces facing the direction of movement of the armatures and the wire printing members during printing movement from a non-print position to a print position and the pole member end surfaces providing a first radially innermost pivotal support means engageable with the armature members only during an initial portion of the armature movement and also providing a second radially outermost pivoted support means engageable with the armature members only during a terminal portion of the armature movement.

  • Patent number: 4230412
Abstract: A wire matrix print head assembly having a plurality of circumferentially spaced armature members in which each armature member is operatively associated with a pair of radially spaced magnetic pole members and a coil associated therewith, each armature member being mounted between the pole members and the wire printing members with the end surfaces of the pole members facing the direction of movement of the armatures during printing movement from a non-print position to a print position, the inner pole member end surface providing a pivotal support surface for the armature member and also providing a locating surface engageable with a portion of the armature housing opposite thereto, a resilient biasing member mounted on the armature housing portion and engaging the armature member opposite the pivotal support surface, a resilient support and locating member engaging the radially innermost end portion of the armature opposite the associated wire printing member, and an axially adjustable sleeve means for sup

  • Patent number: 4185929
Abstract: A wire matrix print head assembly having bearing and guide apparatus for a plurality of circumferentially spaced reciprocable wire members comprising one or more elongated bearing members each having a plurality of elongated passages, there being one passageway in each bearing member for each wire member and the passageways for each wire member in each bearing member being aligned and interconnected to provide a continuous wire passage receiving a majoral portion of each wire member and comprising in sequence a relatively long length enlarged first inlet and guide portion; a relatively short length intermediate second bearing portion; a relatively long length intermediate third guide portion; a relatively short length intermediate fourth bearing portion; a relatively long length intermediate fifth guide portion; and a relatively short length terminal sixth bearing portion, the guide portion enabling continuous uninterrupted slidable insertion of the wire member during assembly while also enabling free recipro
