Patent number: 10330623Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting a liquid. Detection a liquid may include detecting liquid at a boundary of an area and reporting the presence of the liquid. Reporting liquid at a boundary may prevent leaking of the liquid from the area. Detecting also includes detecting liquid inside the area. The amount of liquid detected inside the boundary may relate to a range of amounts of liquid. The minimum amount of the range may represent the minimum amount of liquid that is permissible in the area prior to taking action to deal with the liquid.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2017Date of Patent: June 25, 2019Assignee: Helvetia Wireless LLCInventors: Roc Lastinger, Brian C. Patent number: 10191003Abstract: A system for detecting the spread of a liquid. The system detects the position of a first portion of the liquid and a second portion of the liquid to detect the spread.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 2015Date of Patent: January 29, 2019Assignee: Helvetia Wireless LLCInventors: Roc Lastinger, Brian C. Patent number: 9910003Abstract: A system for detecting the presence of a liquid. The system includes a sensor, a cap, and a reader. The sensor includes at least three conductors, a substrate, and a cover. The conductors are positioned between the substrate and the cover. The cover includes a first portion at a first position and a second portion at a second position. The first portion and the second portion are adapted for separation from proximate portions of the cover and from the substrate to expose the conductors. The cap and the reader are adapted for positioning against the substrate at the first position and the second position respectively after separation of the first portion or the second portion. Positioning the cap against the against the substrate electrically couples two of the at least three conductors to each other. Positioning the reader against the substrate electrically couples the reader to the conductors to detect the presence of the liquid.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 2015Date of Patent: March 6, 2018Assignee: Helvetia Wireless, LLCInventors: Roc Lastinger, Brian C. Patent number: 9719951Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting moisture that includes at least three conductors. One of the conductors has a different resistance than the other conductors. A liquid extends between the conductors. The difference between the impedance through a pair of conductors and the liquid and the impedance of through another pair of conductors and the liquid may be used to determine the position of the liquid along a length of the conductors. Similar methods may be used to determine an area of a liquid with respect to the conductors.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 2014Date of Patent: August 1, 2017Assignee: Helvetia Wireless LLCInventors: Brian C.
