Patent number: 6382947Abstract: An apparatus for color blending an agglomerating flowable material from a differently colored individual batches, to mold a mottled heterogeneous product with material from at least two batches so that mottled products (i.e. with irregular arrangement of spots or confluent blotches of color) are produced from a relatively dry concrete mixture (zero slump concrete), which agglomerates into clumps that tumble randomly from individual hoppers containing individually colored concrete batches. By controlling positioning of a filling tray relative to a hopper outlet, the time sequencing and quantity of material released from each hopper outlet, it is possible to fill the filling tray in a large number of seemingly random mottled patterns where clumps of each of the individual colors remain visible in the molded product.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2000Date of Patent: May 7, 2002Assignee: Hengestone Holdings, Inc.Inventor: Edward J. Patent number: 6324783Abstract: The invention relates to a. molded plastic landscape edging strip with integrally moulded plastic spikes that can be severed on site for use in installation and also serve during storage and handling to stiffen the rear edge of the flexible plastic edging strip. Plastic spikes are less expensive to manufacture than conventionally used galvanized steel spikes, however, when integrally moulded with the plastic edging, the marginal increase in cost of the spikes is very low. The costs and time involved in manufacturing, inventory maintenance, handling, shipping and installation are reduced as a result of integrally moulding the spikes and edging together. The edging strip has an elongate vertical wall with bottom edge, front and rear faces, a horizontal footing extending rearwardly from the bottom edge with longitudinally spaced apart apertures and elongate plastic spikes severably joined to the rearward end of the footing.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1999Date of Patent: December 4, 2001Assignee: Hengestone Holdings Inc.Inventors: Michael McIntyre, Ray Rodenburgh, Sid Gibson
