Abstract: A clear aqueous disinfectant compositon containing the reaction product of (a) an N-substituted propylenediamine corresponding to formula I:R.sub.1,--NH--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --NH.sub.2 (I)in which R.sub.1 is a linear alkyl radical containing 12 to 14 carbon atoms, and (b) a compound corresponding to formula II:R.sub.2 --O--CO--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --CH(NH.sub.2)--COOH (II)in which R.sub.2 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, in a molar ration of(a) to (b) of from about 1:1 to about 1:2, respectively, and further containing (c) a solubilizer selected from the group consisting of benzyl alcohol, 2-phenoxyethanol, 1-phenoxypropanol, and mixtures thereof.
