Patent number: 5854306Abstract: There is provided a method and novel formulations for printing images on a latex rubber surface. An ink containing natural or synthetic rubber, a pigment dispersion, and an aromatically unsaturated solvent medium for said rubber is used. The stability of the image is improved providing to the rubber molecules of the ink, an agent, such as an aryl diisocyanate, that will form a tough, flexible, chemically resistant matrix between the rubber molecules of the ink, the base coat, where present and the latex surface. A base coat may be used upon the latex surface to anchor the printing ink thereto. This base coat can comprise a natural rubber in an aromatically unsaturated solvent and may also contain the aryl diisocyanate. The method may be improved by certain post printing steps such as heating and curing the printed product.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 1997Date of Patent: December 29, 1998Assignee: Herbert GlattInventors: Henry Mattesky, James Gugger

Patent number: 5380581Abstract: There is disclosed an improved non-woven fabric comprising a layer of staple length fibers and a binder material diffused substantially through the fabric adhering fiber ends together to provide fabric strength. The improvement is based on the binder being arranged in a pattern in segments. These segments running substantially perpendicular to the orientation of the fibers (or the machine direction), and the pattern within these segments have a plurality of repeats within each segment and a repeat of said total segment pattern in alternate segments. The components of this pattern are mutually laterally displaced from each other in sequential segments, at least 80% of the components of said pattern being at an angle of between at least 10.degree. to not more than 70.degree. relative to the orientation of the majority of the fibers (or the machine direction).Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 1994Date of Patent: January 10, 1995Assignee: Herbert GlattInventor: Henry Mattesky

Patent number: 5371961Abstract: A cover for an ironing board has a sheet and a stretchable pad. The sheet has a front nose, a back and an underside and is shaped to cover the ironing board. This sheet has a marginal draw string for marginally securing the sheet to the ironing board. The stretchable pad has a shape complimenting the sheet. This pad is tacked to the underside of the sheet at a pair of spaced locations at the front nose and the back to partially allow the pad to slide relative to the sheet. Thus the pad can settle wrinkle-free on the ironing board with a degree of independence from the cover, and without a full barrier between the sheet and the pad.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 1992Date of Patent: December 13, 1994Assignee: Herbert GlattInventor: Henry Mattesky

Patent number: 5329860Abstract: An ironing board assembly is arranged for mounting on a door. The assembly has a frame with a transverse member and an upright member attached centrally to the transverse member. An upper gripper is attached atop the frame and is sized to hang from the top of the door. The assembly has an ironing board hingedly attached to the transverse member. Also, included is a stabilizing device mounted on the frame below the upper gripper for laterally stabilizing the ironing board assembly.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 1991Date of Patent: July 19, 1994Assignee: Herbert GlattInventor: Henry Mattesky

Patent number: 5299510Abstract: There is provided an ironing table of adjustable height and adapted to be collapsed during storage. This table is made up of a table member of predetermined width, having means for adjusting its height attached to its lower surface, as well as front and rear support means. These are made of a continuous piece of rigid tubing and are conveniently designated as three separate segments, namely a hollow tubular upper and lower leg member and a transverse hollow tubular foot member. One of the upper leg members is pivotally attached to said lower surface of the table member, the other being pivotally attached to the adjusting means. Both of the members being outwardly displaced from the longitudinal axis of the table member. The upper leg member, the lower leg member and the foot member of the rear support means lie in a common plane. Both of the support means are pivotally attached to each other at a point near where the upper and lower leg members join each other.Type: GrantFiled: January 15, 1993Date of Patent: April 5, 1994Assignee: Herbert GlattInventor: Henry Mattesky

Patent number: 5259131Abstract: The disclosure is of an ironing board cover comprising a sheet of unbleached cotton treated with acrylic size to fill the interstices thereof and coated over the acrylic with a pearlescent paint containing titanium dioxide and mica particles. Alternatively, coating may be with pearlescent paint only or such paint alternating with the acrylic resin. Such covers do not show any scorch marks which may arise.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1992Date of Patent: November 9, 1993Assignee: Herbert GlattInventor: Henry Mattesky

Patent number: 5231777Abstract: A tensionable ironing board cover shaped to fit a flat ironing board. This cover has an upper ironing surface segment which extends over the body and the neck portion of the ironing board, if desired, a pad segment located below the ironing surface segment and attached to it, which pad segment has substantially the same dimensions as the ironing surface segment, a rear pocket, arranged on the rear end of the board, a front pocket, having an upper and a lower surface, arranged on the front end of the ironing segment and located below the pad segment which can receive the front end of the neck of the board, and has a frontal nose edge and rearward edge, longitudinal flaps arranged on the longitudinal edges of the board, and tensioning means for adjustably connecting the nose edge of the front pocket to its the read edge so as to enable the separation between the nose edge and the rear edge to be reduced. This reduction causes the flaps to envelop the board more closely.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 1992Date of Patent: August 3, 1993Assignee: Herbert GlattInventors: Henry Mattesky, James J. Gugger

Patent number: 5231739Abstract: The securing clip of the invention comprises a top plate segment, a bottom plate segment and a joining segment which flexibly links the top and bottom plate segments. Each of the top and bottom plate segments has an upper and a lower surface. The lower surface of the top plate confronts the upper surface of the bottom plate segment and these two surfaces, along with the internal face of the joining segment thereby define a partially closed spaced. There is provided on the lower surface of the top plate segment, at least one finger protruding downwardly into the space. This finger and the lower surface define an angle facing the joining segment which is 90.degree. or less.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 1992Date of Patent: August 3, 1993Assignee: Herbert GlattInventor: Henry Mattesky

Patent number: 5164244Abstract: A laundry iron lubricating means is provided comprising a fabric substrate having a coating containing a lubrication agent. In the operation of the device, the hot laundry iron is run over the coated fabric with normal pressure. The lubrication provided by a single pass reduces iron drag by 20 to 50%, adequate for the ironing of at least one large garment without need for a second pass. The greater the sole temperature of the iron, the greater the drag reduction.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 1989Date of Patent: November 17, 1992Assignee: Herbert GlattInventor: Henry Mattesky
