    Abstract: Method and apparatus for pressing a parison. A parison mold is composed of neck tool halves and parison mold halves. A gob of molten glass had first been introduced through an upper loading orifice into a cavity of the parison mold, while a pressing plunger was located in a lower loading position. An assembly consisting of a pressing element, a guide sleeve and a piston-cylinder unit was introduced into the loading orifice. Subsequently the pressing plunger was raised from its loading position into the illustrated upper end operating position until its annular end face had moved into position against a stop surface of the neck tool. Following the preliminary pressing process a neck chamber in the cavity is still free from molten glass. It is only at this point that the pressing element exerts pressure on a base of the parison which is being produced. The molten glass is also pressed into the hitherto still free neck chamber of the cavity.

    Abstract: The apparatus serves for pushing at least one of two hollow glass articles from a dead plate of a glass forming machine onto a conveyor belt. A pusher serves for this purpose, and includes a base portion and, for each glass article which is to be pushed, at least one thrust finger extending transversely to the base portion. Each thrust finger defines with the base portion a pocket for receiving the glass article. A nozzle is arranged in the region of a corner of the associated pocket. From each nozzle compressed air can be blown such that a pressure below atmospheric pressure which draws the glass article into the pocket is created between the pusher and the glass article. The compressed air is blown from the corner out between the base portion and the glass article.

    Abstract: Glass containers (3) are taken to a high temperature in an annealing furnace (7) and removed from the annealing furnace belt (5) by grips (16) of a gripping device (12). The gripping device (12) is then moved by a handling device (13) first vertically upwards, then horizontally above a fluidized bed (18) and then downwards into the fluidized bed in order to coat the glass containers (3) with a powder; it is then taken upwards out of the fluidized bed (18) and finally moved horizontally over a conveyor belt (22). There, the glass containers (3) are released from the gripping device (12) and set down on the conveyor belt (22) which takes the powder-coated glass containers (3) through a second curing region (27) in which the powder is cured to form a substantially duroplastic layer.

The slide member is supported fixedly on the machine and includes a downwardly angled upper slide surface for the gobs. An upper end of the deflector receives the gobs directly from a lower end of the slide member.

The containers (2) are routed on a continuously curved path (11) into a second direction of movement (5) onto a second conveyor belt (6). Between the conveyor belts (3, 6) is arranged an intermediate belt (14) whose upper run (15) is driven in a third direction of movement (16) with a lower speed than the first conveyor belt (3). The second conveyor belt (6) likewise runs at lower speed than the first conveyor belt (3), so that finally a comparatively small second gap (7) results between the containers (2). A drive member (10) carries on the one hand transportation fingers (9) which engage between successive containers (2), and on the other hand stopping members (13) of a support device (12) with which the containers ( 2) are kept in continuous contact up to their delivery on to the second conveyor belt (6).

    Abstract: A parison is molded from a gob of molten glass by first increasing the volume of the interior of a cup-shaped main mold body by an extra volume. Then the molten-glass gob is inserted through an upper opening into the interior of the main mold body. A neck mold comprising a split neck ring is closed on the main mold body so that the neck mold and the main mold body together define a mold cavity partly formed by the interior of the main mold body. A plunger is inserted through the neck mold down into the gob in the mold cavity to displace molten glass and shape the gob into a parison. The extra volume of the interior of the main mold body is then decreased to zero at the latest until the time at which the parison is finished, so that the molten glass rises in the mold cavity up to a level above the top of the main mold body. Finally the parison thus formed is demolded.
