Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to synthesizing one or more properties for optimizing one or more operations in a well. Embodiments include receiving measurements or qualitative indicators of one or more parameters in association with performing operations in the well. Embodiments include providing, based on the measurements, one or more inputs to a machine learning algorithm (MLA) that has been trained using historical or training well data. Embodiments include determining, based on one or more outputs from the MLA, one or more synthesized properties relating to the well, wherein the one or more synthesized properties comprise a synthesized pore-pressure at, near, or ahead of a bit position. Embodiments include determining, based on the one or more synthesized properties, one or more optimized parameters relating to at least one of: drilling the well; steering the well; or stimulating a reservoir.

  • Publication number: 20160292320
Abstract: Improved methods and systems for efficiently and accurately modelling geological formations are disclosed. A geological model of a region of interest comprises a parent region having a plurality of child regions. A geological model of the parent region is designed. One of the plurality of child regions is extracted from the parent region while maintaining a first parent-child relationship between the child region and the parent region. The geological model of the child region may then be refined or manipulated. The geological model of the child region is then reintegrated with the geological model of the parent region.

  • Patent number: 6063163
Abstract: According to the present invention, an inexpensive co-current and counter-current gas dehydration system, contactor apparatus, and operating method is provided which does not result in a need to clean equipment on a frequent basis. More specifically, there is provided a dehydration system, contactor apparatus, and method for removing water from a stream of wet natural gas which minimizes formation or iron sulfide scale within the contactor apparatus to maintain sufficient water removal capacity and to reduce operator cleanup and construction expenses. The instant invention improves the utilization of the water absorbing capabilities of glycol by using partially water laden glycol extracted from the central portion of the contactor apparatus in a co-current flow with wet natural gas to maximize the operating efficiency of the contactor apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5545330
Abstract: A water treatment system and process separates contaminants from water by flotation, by forming a removable floating scum of impurities utilizing a bubbling process, by filtering out suspended solids, by stripping dissolved impurities from the water with air, by oxidizing organic compounds, by adsorbing organic compounds, and finally, by disinfecting. Utilization of the disclosed process and system will transform contaminated water into an environmentally suitable state.

  • Patent number: 5305905
Abstract: The disclosure herein describes a vapor tight floating roof support leg for a liquid storage tank characterized by a leg and a seal at the top of the leg so as to prevent the escape of fugitive volatile organic or other gaseous compounds from evaporation from the surface of the liquid. In one embodiment, the leg is of one fixed length and the seal is comprised of a blind welded, bolted or otherwise firmly affixed to the top of the leg. In another embodiment wherein the support leg is comprised of two pieces, an inner pipe leg slides into a hollow sleeve. The seal at the top of the support leg is comprised of a flange firmly attached to the sleeve, and a blind is welded, bolted or otherwise firmly affixed to an inner leg which may be any predetermined length. The blind is firmly attached to the flange.

  • Patent number: 5182946
Abstract: A device for use on a well pumping unit. The device provides for real time measurement and recording of acceleration of a polished rod resulting from the oscillating linear motion induced by the rotating motion of the pumping unit crank. The device includes accelerometers with adequate sensitivity to allow response to both slow and fast changes in acceleration using earth's gravity as the reference point. Further, the device includes a load measuring apparatus for measuring the loads resulting at the polished rod from the weight of the subsurface coupled rod string and pumped fluids. The load measuring apparatus includes a cylindrical steel spool on which four two-element rosette strain gauges are cemented. Circuit intelligence identifies the load cell for proper calibration reference and records the real time load and acceleration data and transfers the data to a non-volatile data storage card for analysis on an external computer without the necessity of long transfer cables.

  • Patent number: 4844813
Abstract: A system and method for treating biodegradable waste which includes a land treatment area surrounded by dikes and underlain by an impermeable layer. A leachate collection system, with a pre-determined slope and an underdrain system, overlies the impermeable layer. The leachate collection system permits the collection of effluent which is routed to a wastewater treatment system. Surface water is removed by an exterior drainage system.

  • Patent number: 4459821
Abstract: A bulkhead for a cargo carrying vehicle and method of constructing same is the subject of the present invention. First and second uniform extruded sections are provided, each of which presents alternating web portions and open areas sandwiched between generally planar surfaces. Plate connecting means is interposed between the two extruded sections and presents first and second connecting surfaces which are aligned with the first and second planar surfaces. First and second channel means disposed across the ends of the extruded sections place each of the open areas in closed communication with an adjacent area. The open areas may be utilized to house a refrigerant conduit and a freezable media so as to convert the bulkhead into a self-contained cold plate. Alternatively, a heating element may be placed in the open areas so as to convert the bulkhead to a hot plate. The aforedescribed assembly is disposed on one side of an A-frame which divides the cargo area into left and right sections.
