Publication number: 20230122088Abstract: A wireless charging system that includes a plurality of wireless charging pads positioned along a roadway. Each of the wireless charging pads define a transmitter configured to wirelessly transfer electrical power to a receiver of one or more electric vehicles as the electric vehicles are in motion relative to the roadway. The system includes a power station disposed adjacent to the roadway, and communicatively coupled to the wireless charging pads. The power station defines an inverter configured to transfer electrical power to the wireless charging pads from a power source. The wireless charging pads are collectively configured to wirelessly charge the electric vehicles in response to the electric vehicles moving along the roadway, such that the receiver of the electric vehicles continuously receives the electrical power from the wireless charging pads as the electric vehicle moves on the roadway.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 17, 2022Publication date: April 20, 2023Applicant: HEVO, Inc.Inventors: Jeremy MCCOOL, Umer ANWER, Kerim COLAK, Kunal KAMLE, Luke MANSFIELD

Patent number: 10369894Abstract: A parking alignment sequence for wirelessly charging an electric vehicle can include determining a location of a charging station by a processing device of a user device based on communication over a cellular network. The charging station can have a transmitter for wirelessly transmitting power to a receiver of the electric vehicle. A first user interface having directions to the charging station from a current location of the user device can be displayed. Alignment data can be wirelessly received via a communication path that is independent of the cellular network in response to the electric vehicle being located within a predetermined distance from the charging station. A second user interface having alignment instructions can be displayed for moving the electric vehicle into alignment based on the alignment data in response to the electric vehicle being located within the predetermined distance from the charging station.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2016Date of Patent: August 6, 2019Assignee: HEVO, Inc.Inventors: Jeremy Ryan McCool, Umer Anwer, Alap Shah, Kunal Kamle

Patent number: 10128697Abstract: Foreign objects at a wireless charging station can be detected and deterred by activating a primary coil in a transmitter to generate an electromagnetic field in response to a receiver being positioned within a predetermined distance from the primary coil. The receiver can be coupled to a battery in an electric vehicle for wirelessly receiving power from the transmitter for charging the battery. A voltage induced on a sensor coil in response to a foreign object being positioned within the electromagnetic field can be measured. The sensor coil can include a first spiral and a second spiral. The first spiral being spiraled in a first direction away from the point and the second spiral being spiraled in a second direction away from the point. The foreign object can be determined to be between the transmitter and the receiver based on the voltage.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2017Date of Patent: November 13, 2018Assignee: HEVO, Inc.Inventors: Umer Anwer, Alap Shah
