Abstract: A laser includes an active ring, a passive waveguide, and a reflector. The active ring is to generate light. The passive waveguide is associated with the active ring to capture generated light. The reflector is associated with the passive waveguide to cause captured light from the waveguide to be coupled into the active ring to trigger domination of unidirectional lasing in the active ring to generate light.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for loading IC's into a socket lid is disclosed. The IC is first loaded into a lid. Once the IC has been loaded into the lid, the lid is rotated into a closed position on the frame. The lid is then locked in place on the frame by rotating at least one locking lever into a closed lacked position, where the locking lever forces the lid down against the socket contacts against a spring.

Abstract: A system for automated contract management includes a computing device (102) and a memory storing program instructions that when executed by computing device (102). The program instructions cause the computing device (102) to generate an ontology (115) of terms and cross-contractual relationships in contracts (105, 110) and machine interpretable terms (120) and cross-contractual relationships (125) derived from the contracts (105, 110) with reference to the ontology (115). A method for automated contract management is also provided.

Abstract: One embodiment is a method that generates query vectors from query plans and performance vectors from data collected while executing multiple queries in a database. A machine learning technique (MLT) computes distances between two query vectors and two performance vectors and then predicts performance of plural queries executing in the database.

Abstract: In a computer-implemented method for re-provisioning a server of a data center, and while the server is provisioned to a first virtual network of the data center, the server is provided 1) a pseudo-random data stream, and 2) instructions on how to overwrite substantially all of its data storage volumes using the pseudo-random data stream. Upon completion of the overwrite, the server is powered down, then moved to a second virtual network of the data center, and then caused to initiate a network boot from within the second virtual network. After the network boot of the server, one or more indications of the data stored at a number of addresses of the server's data storage volumes are requested from the server via the second virtual network. It is then determined whether the server is in a compromised state by, remotely from the server, comparing the provided indication(s) to one or more expected indications.

Abstract: According to one example of the present invention, there is provided apparatus for displaying a dashboard display in a vehicle. The apparatus comprises a vehicle data bus interface for communicating with vehicle subsystems of a vehicle management system, a rules store for storing a set of dashboard display rules, and a dashboard display module. The dashboard display module is arranged to obtain a dashboard display definition, to determine whether the dashboard display definition is in compliance with the dashboard display rules; to obtain, where it is so determined, data from one or more of the vehicle subsystems in accordance with the dashboard display definition, and to display the obtained data in accordance with the dashboard display definition.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an inkjet ink comprising: a) colorant; b) a polymeric binder having an acid number below 200 selected from the group consisting of a styrene-acrylic polymeric binder, an acrylic polymeric binder, an anionic polyurethane binder and combinations thereof; c) water dispersible surfactant; and d) a solvent which does not dissolve an acidified form of the binder, the solvent having a vapor pressure less than 0.1 mm at 25° C. The invention further relates to methods of making using the ink, printing systems and ink sets which use this ink.

Abstract: A method to control a printer carriage in which the printer carriage is controlled to move along a first axis at a first predetermined speed when a printhead, installed on the printer carriage, is ejecting printing fluid in a print zone. The printer carriage is moveable bidirectionally along the first axis in swaths to enable the printhead to print in the print zone. The printer carriage is also controlled to move along the first axis at a second predetermined speed, higher than the first predetermined speed, when the printhead is not ejecting printing fluid in the print zone.

Abstract: A method for generating summaries of text is described. The method includes the step of extracting features from text of text lists from summaries. The explanatoriness of the text is then evaluated, wherein evaluating the explanatoriness of text includes evaluating the features of the text, including at least the step of evaluating the discriminativeness of the features of the text by comparing the text to a first text data set, wherein the first text data set is derived from a topic label. The evaluated text is then ranked based on the explanatoriness evaluation.

Abstract: A system includes a client management component, a monitor component, and a hardware resource component, each of which is implemented in hardware. The client management component chooses a selected client from one or more clients for which a given task is to be fulfilled by a selected hardware resource of one or more hardware resources. The monitor component receives the given task and an identifier of the selected client from the client management component and monitors completion of the given task for the selected client by the selected hardware resource. The hardware resource management receives the given task from the monitor component, chooses the selected hardware resource that is to fulfill the given task, and launches the given task on the selected hardware resource.

Abstract: Visual feedback is provided to a local user of a remote collaboration system. While an image is being captured, it is recognized that content is being shared on a screen. A composite image is generated which includes a form of the image being captured and the shared content. The composite image is caused to be displayed on a remote screen. A variably semi-transparent image of at least a portion of the composite image or the image is generated and is rendered on a portion of the screen such that the variably semi-transparent image is overlaid on any of the shared content or another composite image displayed on the screen.

Abstract: Example embodiments relate to smart content feeds for document collaboration. In example embodiments, a user may use a system to perform a search of a document repository in order to identify related content for adding to a target document. In response to a user approving the related content identified in the search, the system may create a reference data entry that includes a timestamp and a storage location of a source document that contains the related content. The system may then use the timestamp to detect that a modification of the source document has occurred and generate a notification for the user that describes the modification.
