Abstract: A technique for allocating a write cache allowed data size of a write cache from a plurality of write caches to each of a plurality of storage volumes, calculating a write cache utilization of the write cache for each of the respective storage volumes, wherein the write cache utilization is based on a write cache dirty data size of the write cache allocated to the respective storage volume divided by the write cache allowed data size of the write cache allocated to the respective storage volume, and adjusting the write cache allowed data size of the write cache allocated to storage volumes based on the write cache utilization of the write cache of the storage volumes.

Abstract: In one example, a customizable nonlinear electrical device includes a first conductive layer, a second conductive layer, and a thin film metal-oxide layer sandwiched between the first conductive layer and the second conductive layer to form a first rectifying interface between the metal-oxide layer and the first conductive layer and a second rectifying interface between the metal-oxide layer and the second conductive layer. The metal-oxide layer includes an electrically conductive mixture of co-existing metal and metal oxides. A method forming a nonlinear electrical device is also provided.

Abstract: Example embodiments disclosed herein relate to input/output (I/O) operations at a virtual block device of a storage server. Example embodiments include requesting an input/output (I/O) operation at an offset of a virtual block device of a storage server in response to a virtual machine request for an I/O operation at a virtual disk.

Abstract: Wavefront synthesizers and optical switches implemented with wavefront synthesizers are disclosed. In one aspect, a wavefront synthesizer includes a waveguide tree composed a root waveguide that branches into at least two terminus waveguides. The root waveguide is integrated with a source to inject light into the waveguide tree via the root waveguide. The synthesizer includes output couplers located at the ends of the terminus waveguides. Each output coupler outputs a wavefront associated with a portion of the light injected with at least two of the wavefronts overlapping to form at least one beam of light via constructive interference. The synthesizer also includes microring resonators disposed adjacent to the terminus waveguides. Each microring is independently tunable to apply a phase shift in the wavefront output from one of the output couplers to steer the direction of the beam and the at least two wavefronts.

Abstract: Techniques for routing data packets in a networked system. Specifically, a network system and methods of arbitrating data packets in a network system are provided. Switching devices are configured to receive one or more data packets, wherein each of the one or more data packets is received at a respective input port each having a respective input port identification. The routing order of the data packets is determined based on the input port identification corresponding to the respective input port at which each of the data packets is received.

Abstract: A method, and a corresponding system, provide for configuring nodes in a computer system according to a user's intent. The computer system includes one or more nodes. The method includes receiving a configuration command from a user, including an identification of one or more of the nodes to be configured; determining available programs for configuring the one or more nodes; determining requirements for applying the available programs to the one or more nodes and displaying the requirements to the user for selection; receiving user selections from the displayed requirements; and executing the requirements to configure the one or more nodes.

Abstract: An example apparatus may include a light source for illuminating a sample, an objective lens positioned on a light path extending from the sample, a lenslet array having a plurality of lenslets and positioned along the light path to receive light from the objective lens. The lenslet array may be positioned along the light path at substantially a Fourier plane of the sample. The example apparatus may also include a detector positioned along the light path approximately one lenslet focal length from the lenslet array. The plurality of lenslets of the lenslet array may correspond to portions of the detector. Each lenslet of the lenslet array may transmit to a corresponding portion of the detector an image of the same portion of the sample from a different viewing angle.

The further comprises identifying a sub-set of documents from the set of linked documents in which the acronym occurs. The method further comprises recalculating the associated probabilities for a first occurrence of an acronym in the sub-set of documents based, in part, on the associated probabilities of other occurrences of the acronym in the sub-set of documents and the distance between the first occurrence and the other occurrences.

Abstract: A NIC teaming intermediate driver running on a computer system binds NIC resources into teams to provide a physical interface for the computer system to the network. When configuring a team, the teaming driver assigns one of the team members to be the primary resource and the others to be secondary. When one or more members of the team are coupled to more than one path through a layer 2 network to a core switch, the intermediate driver listens to frames transmitted over the layer 2 network regarding the cost (i.e. the bandwidth) of various connections between switches in the network and chooses the primary member to be that member coupled to the lowest cost path (i.e. highest bandwidth).
