    Abstract: A granular fertilizer is prepared by coating particles of a base fertilizer, selected from orthophosphates of calcium, ammonium and potassium and mixtures thereof, with:(a) a first layer comprising 1 to 5% (by weight of the total composition) of water or an aqueous solution of a salt selected from the group of sulphates and phosphates of ammonium or potassium and mixtures thereof; and(b) a second layer comprising (i) elemental sulphur and/or (ii) a supplemental micronutrient, and, if the first layer consists of water only, (iii) 0.1 to 10% (by weight of the total composition) of a salt selected from the group consisting of water-soluble sulphates and phosphates of ammonium or potassium, sulphates of metallic trace elements, and mixtures thereof.
