Abstract: A mandibular protrusion splint includes a maxillary splint part and a mandibular splint part, each of which have a laterally attached joint pin, and joint rods which couple the splint parts together in a movable manner. Each joint pin comprises a shoulder facing the splint part, a head facing away from the splint part, and a neck arranged between the shoulder and the head. The shoulder and head cross sections are larger than a neck cross section. Each joint pin holds a joint rod. The joint rods have a collar at each end. Each collar surrounds the neck in a mounted state. The collar(s) and/or the head(s) have a flexibility which, upon an excessive application of a laterally directed force exerted via a joint rod, allows a yielding movement of the joint rod and then allows the collar to slip over the head of the joint pin without being destroyed.

Abstract: A method for capturing patient-individual movements of a mandible in relation to a maxilla in a plurality of degrees of freedom. The method includes providing an optical sensor system having an image in an oral cavity of a patient, providing a defined object in the image of the optical sensor system in the oral cavity of the patient, bringing the optical sensor system into a fixed connection to the mandible or to the maxilla, capturing the defined object with the optical sensor system, the defined object having a defined relationship to the other maxilla or mandible, recording a sequence of spatial points of the defined object with the optical sensor system during a movement of the mandible, and storing the sequence of spatial points as a multi-dimensional movement line in a movement data record.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a protrusion splint comprising an upper support area configured to provide a defined abutment of a maxilla area, and a lower support area configured to provide a defined abutment of a mandible area. The method includes fixing the maxilla area and the mandible area in a first position so that the mandible area is shifted forward relative to the mandible area. A three-dimensional image data set of an air passage in a region of a trachea is created in the first position. The air passage is checked whether an opening value of the air passage corresponds to a target value. A second position of the maxilla area and of the mandible area to each other is defined depending on the checking. The protrusion splint is manufactured so that the mandible area is held relative to the maxilla area in the second position.
