Abstract: The present invention relates to a laminated article and a method for making the article. An imageable film is printed on a first side with an image created in a computer. The image can be black and white or color. The imageable film can be transparent or white. The image containing film is then overlaid with a transparent laminate layer to protect the image from weather, abrasion and wear. A colored substrate may be applied on a second side of the imageable film to create a colored sign. The colored substrate may also be used to introduce special effects to the appearance of the finished laminated article.

Abstract: A lag ballast for a high intensity discharge lamp includes a transformer providing voltage at either of two levels. Triacs tied to the transformer supply current at the desired voltage level through either of two inductances. The triacs are controlled by a comparison circuit so that a low voltage and high current are supplied to the lamp during startup and a lower current and higher voltage are supplied as the lamp approaches its normal operating temperature.

Abstract: A high intensity discharge ballast that provides instant restrike of hot high intensity lamps, rapid warm-up and normal ballasting functions so as to circumvent the deficiencies of heating and cooling cycles in high intensity discharge lamps which cycles are unacceptable in special applications such as graphic arts and stadium lighting.
