Abstract: A portable illuminating tower in which a base frame is provided having a vertically extensible column mounted thereon together with a source of pressurized gas for effecting extension of the tower. An engine driven generator is carried by the base frame for energizing light fixtures carried on the upper end of the extensible column. The base frame is provided with outriggers or wings which can be swung outwardly to brace the base frame when the column is extended. The unit is compact and lightweight and can readily be transported from place to place.
