Patents Assigned to Highland Tank & Manufacturing Company
  • Patent number: 6605224
Abstract: A coalescer apparatus is used in oil-water separator tanks. The coalescer includes a frame that supports coalescing plates that are inclined upwardly from the bottom of the frame member. The coalescing plates run parallel with each other and are spaced equally apart. The coalescing plates have a bottom surface that is corrugated and a top surface that is flat without corrugations. Water containing oil and solids is passed through the coalescing apparatus and separation of the oil and solids from the water occurs. The solids fall to the top flat surface of the inclined coalescing plates. The inclined flat surface cause the solids to slide down the plate and out of the coalescer.

  • Patent number: 5381923
Abstract: An overflow control for liquid storage tanks is provided. Fluid overflowing from the inlet port or a vent port of a liquid storage tank is collected within a spill collection chamber that overlies the inlet port and the vent port. The spill collection chamber also overlies a spill storage chamber that receives liquid from the spill collection chamber when the liquid in the spill collection chamber raises to a level sufficient to enter the inlet port of the spill storage chamber. The spill collection chamber is formed in fluid tight relationship to the storage tank and to the spill storage chamber. The liquid storage tank may also be positioned within a dike that has a second spill collection chamber to capture overflow from the tank spill collection chamber.

  • Patent number: 4722800
Abstract: Oil-water separation apparatus and method employing a velocity head diffusion baffle facing upwardly and towards the feed end of a separator tank to which feed flow is directed. The separator tank comprises a relatively turbulent inlet section and a relatively large separator section and the baffle tends to isolate inlet turbulence from the separator section. Furthermore, the baffle tends to reduce flow turbulence in the separator section and to distribute flow of the inlet stream over the entire width of the tank. The baffle tends to improve the separation of solids and any immiscible liquids which are susceptible to gravity separation.
