Abstract: A method for producing a corrosion resistant metal substrate and corrosion resistant metal substrate provided thereby. The method involves forming a plated substrate including a metal substrate provided with a nickel layer or with a nickel and cobalt layer followed by electrodepositing a molybdenum oxide layer from an aqueous solution onto the plated substrate, which is subsequently subjected to an annealing step in a reducing atmosphere to reduce the molybdenum oxide in the molybdenum oxide layer to molybdenum metal in a reduction annealing step and to form a diffusion layer which contains nickel and molybdenum, and optionally cobalt.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method for producing a metallic coating layer comprising nickel and molybdenum on an electrically conductive substrate by electrodeposition from an aqueous solution including nickel salts, gluconate anions and citrate anions wherein the substrate acts as the cathode and wherein molybdate is added and wherein the pH of the aqueous solution is adjusted between 5.0 and 8.5. The invention also relates to an electrically conductive substrate provided with such a metallic coating layer electrodeposited from the aqueous solution.

Abstract: The invention relates to a double walled metal tube comprising a tubular roll formed metal band having a brazing layer between the metal layers of the tubular roll formed metal band, wherein the brazing layer consists of a copper alloy. According to the invention, the copper alloy is a copper-tin alloy, wherein the copper-tin alloy contains 3-12 wt % tin. The invention also relates to a metal band for forming such a double walled metal tube and to a metal strip for producing such metal bands, and to a method of coating a metal band and strip.
Abstract: A method for heat treatment of a cold rolled strip with a surface coating of Ni and/or Co and incorporated non-metallic elements C and/or S, if need be with the addition of Fe, In, Pd, Au and/or Bi, whereby the cold rolled strip has a low carbon content. Since the compounds of C, S, N and P deposited on the grain boundaries bring about the most micro-cracks with the surface coating metal if no recrystallization takes place, the temperature of the heat treatment should be selected lower than the recrystallization temperature and higher than the precipitation temperature. With a recrystallization, the grain sizes would easily attain the thickness of the coating so that the embrittled compounds would migrate with the grain boundaries out of the coating. Due to the choice of temperature of the heat treatment of the surface coating of the invention, in contrast, an optimal embrittlement of the grain boundaries is guaranteed, which is especially advantageous in the manufacture of battery cans.

Abstract: Electrical connector or electrical switching element including a metallic core and a galvanically deposited metal containing coating layer is presented. The metal containing coating layer is deposited by electrolytic composite plating and the coating layer includes a metal matrix and distributed therein particles selected from the group of particles having electrically conductive properties, particles having lubricating properties, particles having wear resistance properties and particles having properties of increasing the temperature durability or combinations of particles from those groups. The electrical connector or electrical switching element has been made from a continuously coated metal strip comprising a metallic core and a galvanically deposited metal containing coating layer. A continuously coated metal strip for manufacturing such electrical connectors is also presented.
